Parking fine - paid late

Unfortunately I parked in a shopping centre car park and assumed parking was free.

30min later received a private parking notice.

To avoid hassle I paid the £60 fee.

Received a letter today asking for further £40 as we did not pay the £60 in time.

Now the £60 fee was painful enough and just to avoid hassle I paid it. The extra £40 really !!!!es me off.

What to do - ignore the letter???

Yes, just ignore. It's a pity you paid that £60. You probably know now that you could have ignored that as well.

As a matter of interest, what is the name of the parking company?

Finally this is not a "fine", it's an invoice.
What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?

You have paid a Scam, sorry I feel sympathy for you but you have just been had
Now LISTEN ! you are still in the process of the Scam, they will keep coming back for more and more money until you stand up and stop giving it away, just like all scammers.

What you must do now, is STOP do not pay ANY MORE MONEY
they will continue sending FAKE debt collecting letters, Fake solicitors letters, fake court threats, to go with the Fake parking ticket they gave you.
These are in fact invitations to pay unsolicited invoices and have no other legal standing other than you accepting the invitation or declining it by ignoring them.
Can you please name the company.

PS For my reference only Evidence#7

"We are sorry but your payment arrived 1 nanosecond to late to qualify, please pay us another £40 because we know you are a sucker and will probably pay this as well"

Cancel the cheque/payment if you can and complain to the shopping centre management & the retailers in the shopping centre that you are annoyed at being invoiced £60 for parking in their shopping centre when spending several hundred pound, and that from now on you will be shopping at *name local rival*. You might even get a cheque back from the PPC after they get told to cancel the invoice

Nope, do nothing, why on earth do you still feel they are worth a letter?

This was a scam like a phishing email and they now have you down as a mug (sorry!) who might pay them more money. You will now receive the usual letter-chain over the coming months as shown in our top thread; please look at the preview of those letters so you are ready and are not scared by the debt collector idle threats of 'litigation'. :p

Paying them some money has not stopped any of the hassle for you. At least you will have learnt from this experience and will never take this sort of thing seriously again.

And what happens when the £40 arrives late.

Listen mate, is there not a friend or someone who can advise you and bring you back to your senses.
you are getting ripped off, defrauded, scammed, robbed or whatever else you want to call it.
They will not stop demanding money from you.
the only thing you can do is to stop paying it.
Then they will go away after writing 4 or 5 silly letters, , trust me.

Hi guys, the letter would say that £60 is final payment and the matter is closed.

I don't want the missus to worry about threatening letters etc.
