RightChoice Insurance - Trouble getting no claims proof.

Hey,
Up until last week, I had an insurance policy with Right Choice Insurance Brokers - and at the same time it ran out, I purchased a new car and took out a policy with a new company (Swift Cover). Prior to my old policy running out I expected the usual renewal letter telling me the price if I renewed with Right Choice, and the usual jargon included. However, I never received this letter which worried me as it meant I would encounter problems when needing to prove my years no claims to Swift Cover.
Obviously this has now become the case, Swift are asking me for years no claims proof, and in the past week and a half I have sent 3 e-mails to Right Choice asking, and eventually telling them to send me proof of my years no claims which I am obliged to have. To each email I received no letters or reply in general (which in the past when e-mailing them about my policy was not a problem, often receiving a reply within 24hours). And upon ringing them tonight, received no further help.
The first time I rang them they had no record of my postcode on their database, and after offering to give them my policy number, I was 'put through to the correct department', which turned out not to be the case as the phone was put down 10 seconds later.
The second time I rang, the same thing happened, and I was again put through. This time the line stayed active, and after 45mins wait (!!!!) I finally got through to the right person. They again told me my postcode did not match up (which it should have done as I have past letters from them to prove my postcode) and was asked to give my brokers reference. I did so, and they managed to find my details.
Upon telling them of my new car, and how my new insurance policy was awaiting confirmation of no claims, they started asking me if I wanted to renew with them!! Asking me many details which I foolishly answered promptly to hopefully stop them talking, and once I finally finished this and told them they was wasting their time as I already have a new policy, and had just rang up to get hold of the no claims proof, they gave me some excuse about how they had hold of it at the minute, and can only release it to me once they 'have proof' that I have undertaken a new insurance policy and do actually require this!?
Now I may not be the brightest of people, but I am pretty sure that I am entitled to this information whether I have already agreed a new policy elsewhere or not, and upon my asking for it they should be able to provide me with some form of documentation that includes my years no claims on it. Am I correct?
Anyhow... After he told me this load of rubbish, I stated that I had been asked by my new insurers to gain this information, and that I was within my rights to request this regardless of 'proof' of new insurers. He went on to repeat what had been said, and asked me to call him back in a few days if I hadn't sent them proof of my new insurance. With this, he began his 'thankyou for calling, goodbye' ending, talking over me trying to stay on the line.
Line goes dead, I've been on the phone for an hour, and got nothing out of it other than a pretty sour mood.
i'm not sure what I actually seek from here, other than confirmation from those more knowledgeable of the system that I am correct about all of this... and any tips, pointers or words of wisdom of how to obtain this quicker and without any messing about or having someone from Right Choice give me a load of bullploop again.
Thanks in advance

They should have issued a renewal notice about 3 weeks ahead of renewal. This is an FSA requirement. If they have failed to issue one, then I would question why this is the case.
If they have not issued a renewal notice, they cannot withold sending you NCD proof, because they have auto renewed the existing policy, without giving any notice of this.
Suggest that you send a recorded delivery letter to the MD of Rightchoice, explaining the problems you have had. Mark it urgent. You could also try to fax and email him. I found these details on another forum, where others have had to complain. This company gets so many complaints, as they are probably a small brokers who can't cope with the business they are taking on, so offer a !!!! service.

Nice one. Yeah I did start wondering as the last month approached, but no letter came... so I presumed it would be a late one - and then nothing still. But yeah, ill contact that guy and see what can be found out.
I also heard that my new insurers should be able to find out my no claims for themselves if I speak to them and have them look into it if I explain what has happened... Is this true do you know?0 -
Most insurers require that the NCD proof comes from your last insurer (and won't accept a letter from your broker) so it maybe worth contacting your insurer direct for this.0

Yeah they are my insurers, its just their whole company name as RCIB (Right Choice Insurance Brokers), so it was the insurers I contacted directly. Just waiting on a reply from the main guy at the place anyway and see where to take it from there...0
