Sorry, was really referring to the little boy I had seen in my sons class as I was working in the school at the time, should have made that clearer.
From his point of view his Mum spent so much time with him teaching him stuff he'd sort of missed the kid stuff. Was weird having a conversation with him, like talking to another adult.
Yes, don't worry I think we have all met a child and their parent like that!
You know, the ones that potty trained at 2 months, read at 5 months, played the piano at 8 months and could speak fluent French by 1
Personally I can't bear the competitive mummy - Its ridiculous!!

Before my daughter was even born, I knew what September she'd be starting school in.
See, I find that utterly bizarre, can remember someone telling me that my son being born in August was a good thing because he'd be at school instead of childcare, I'd not a clue what she was on about.
Putting their names down before they can walk? What is all that about...mine both got signed up May/June before they started...very much last minute. And I'd walk over hell and high water before I'd get advice from my useless clump of a health visitor.0 -

No good for me either. I'm ambidextrous and can write with either hand
oh and blow raspberries on their arms, a very important academic skill.

Don't forget cupping your hand in your armpit and squashing it with your arm to make a pump sound :rotfl:
Even if you have two or more children and they are all treat the same, they don't turn out the same. My eldest and youngest seem bright at academic things - both could read, write, count and do sums before school and the eldest is in Year 10 now and doing extremely well. He has plans to do A-Levels and a biochemistry degree. The middle one had the same resources and teaching from me at home, but he's struggled with academic stuff and was way behind the others through most of primary school, although he has caught up a bit since going to secondary school. He's much better at sports and doing practical things like art work and helping with DIY. He's in Year 8 now and keen on doing something like engineering or learning a trade. Here I go again on my own....0 -
Don't go to any clubs, do work - yet knew to fill in form - as did the other 45 families at my dd's school, and the 60 at at the other one we looked at and all the other 100s of 1000s of kids who start school every year....
Gosh, well done you! Wow!!! Wooohoooo!!!!

Not claiming to be awesome - just suggesting that the excuses you gave for people not knowing when to apply for a school place for their kids don't hold water as I pretty much everyone else manages to find out.People seem not to see that their opinion of the world is also a confession of character.
