Wow, there are not plots available in my area and the waiting list is 2 years at least. Still, my name is down now so will make do with pots/bags while i wait.0

Ours are £35 yearly rent ( or £17 for a half plot) and you have to pay a £50 deposit, so that if you leave the plot in a bad state when you give it up, the £50 pays for it to be cleared for the next person taking over. So it'll be a good incentive for those who would normally leave it in a mess. If they want their £50 quid back, they'll have to leave the plot in good nick.

Im soooo jealous of your lots cheap allotment rent.
Here in Lincolnshire we pay almost £80 a year and its not even a really well maintained site  .
I go halves with a friend though so not so bad and I would say to anyone thinking about it......give it a go.
We only got ours last year and spent most of the time tidying the site up and digging zillions of weeds.
We got potatoes though and can't explain how satisfying it is digging something up that you have grown yourself.
This year we are really going to go for it and grow as much as possible ( slugs permitting) and we are constantly making compost from the waste i get at the restaurant I work in. You wouldnt believe how much salad people leave on their plates!! Gives me emormous pleasure knowing it will be feeding my soil down the lottie
Make £10 a Day Feb .....£75.... March... £65......April...£90.....May £20.....June £35.......July £600 -
I have had to convert an area of my garden to an allotment, as when we first moved in I checked with our local allotment site, to be told there was at least a two year waiting list.
Ironically the allotments that fall under our parish are further away than our neighbouring parishes allotments from my home and they actually have space, however as we do not live in that parish we cannot have one of their allotments.
This is the problem with town councils and local councils there is too much red tape and bureaucracy. I think you are very lucky to have a choice around crewe, make the most of it and enjoy your allotment.I had a plan..........its here somewhere.0 -
