Vodafone: double debit of payment

I am having a serious problem with vodafone at the moment and i would like to know if anyone can help me with the legality of my situation and what i can do.
I pay my bill via visa debit because I get paid in cash and can't always get to the bank so dont want the hassle should a DD be taken before I have an opportunity to get there.
This has never beenb a problem but for the last THREE months Vodafone have taken my payment TWICE! This varies between £40 and £60 which I cannot afford to miss.
I was REALLY angry this month but despite my rant i was told and instant transfer or a stop of the payment cannot be done despite the fact that i had only paid 10 mins previously!
I am trying to pay off any debt I am currently in and subsequently am budgeted to the hilt. and extra £60 missing from my account is a big dent to me.
I intend to cancel my contract despite that it is not due to end until may next year. What i need help with is:
1) am i entitled to cancel my contract early (without paying any severence fee) and what grounds can i cite?
2) technically vodafone are "Stealing" my money from me which is then not being returned until a min of 7 days later. This is disgraceful and I want to know if i can report it to an official body.
3) Also i want to report this "double payment" to an official body as this has happend THREE months in a row.. if there is a fault with their online payment system then they have neglected to fix it resulting in loss to me.
Any help anyone can give me would be great. I am happy writing to complain etc but i want to report it officially and be compensated and need to know which legs i am standing on as it were!
Thank you!!!

It's pretty typical for Vodafone to overcharge their customers and then to give them run-around and drag their feet with refunding them:
Grrrr Vodafone! Taken 2 payments from account!
Unfortunately, this is not a valid reason for cancelling the contract.0 -
Send a message to their web relations team via their website - the title code WRT135 sends it for their attention and in my unfortuanetly vast experience with this lot they are the ONLY ones in the organisation who can (and actually want to) sort even a basic problem out.0

don't banks do an instant refund on wrongly charged direct debit.................
Sorry, read it wrong0 -
Hi pink_sheila,
I am sorry to hear that you have had these payments taken twice. I understand how frustrating that must be.
As mobilejunkie has kindly mentioned, if you email me personally via the address here and include WRT135 FAO Heidi in the subject and a link to this thread, I will be more than happy to help.
Kind regards,
Heidi

The exact same thing happened to me. Only they've taken 3 payments not 2. I'm actually really livid. I'm going to a store this morning because their call centres are useless!0

Not really much point going into a store, they won't be able to do anything for you.
You'll either have to try again with customer services, or try following the advice above about contacting the "Web Relations Team". In my experience the WRT usually manage to sort things out.0 -
Hi Chan91,
I am disappointed to hear that.
If you send me your details via email to the address here with WRT135 FAO Heidi in the subject and include a link to this thread, I will be happy to help.
