Iphone 3G 3 Dots Problem?
Hi there a friend had her iphone in her bag the other day and the rain somehow leaked into the bag and the iphone has got slightly wet. It was working at first but the ringer logo was on with the headphones icon and you couldn't lock the phone manually with the button.
We noticed 3 dots top left so googled it and noticed water had got into it. Now the phone will just try to reset and that is all that happens when you plug it in to charge.
Any ideas how much this will cost to fix or can it be fixed manually as shown on youtube?
She has no insurance as didn't think she would need it as she's always never had a problem with phones in the past. The 12 month warranty isn't yet up but have looked and it states water damage is not included in the warranty.
Thanks for any help or anyone who knows somewhere reputable who can fix the iphone cheaply. I have a feeling if the apple shop can fix it, it will cost a fortune.

Water damage is always a killer, whether directly or through condensation. You are right, your warranty is void however search for a local iPhone repairer, they often can simply swap out the faulty part ONLY and get you up and running again, the cost depending on what has to be done. (If total immersion, then it's a write-off).
Do a local search of 'iPhone repairs' - there are many that offer a national repair service, but dig a little deeper and you may find someone you can drop off and collect from.0 -
Somehow she managed to get it repaired for free from a market trader. I couldn't believe her luck still wonder what she did to get it done lol. Apparently it was very wet inside but there was no noticeable damage he just dried it and now it's back to normal. The lights are still showing up but I guess they always will now. Thanks for your help anyway.0
