upgrading to smartphone

Hi all

I currently have a very basic samsung. Can access internet but only do basics. I like samsungs and have also had nokia's in the past. Don't like LG as have tried them in the past and they kept breaking down.

I'm looking for a phone I can do a fair amount of web browsing on inc social networking and also emailing and using chatrooms? (own computer has died).

If possible would be great to be able to skype from mobile too.

Which phones would you recommend?

you will find its not as straight forward as you would think both android smart phones and i phones have their supporters and both have benefits as i'm sure has blackberry.
if it was me i would visit a few shops and have a play budget wise cost vary depending on the spec of the phone .One thing i would say typing on a android touch screen is ok in short bursts but I would not fancy it full time ,so to speak .
Lastly be aware that they are internet heavy so things like i player will use your data allowance .
I'm a big fan of sony and samsung .
