  • Personally I don't see what the problem is, it's not like it's costing or inconveniencing the company but I think it would be polite to ask.

Then a) there's no comeback on you if your boss finds out and b) your conscience is clear.

Blimey, I do this without even thinking. The way I see it is that I have to use my personal CC for work purposes and get my expenses a month in arrears meaning interest used to cost me a fortune before I BTed to a 0% card- my expenses are £300-700 a month. So I don't think that a few Pigsback points or Quidco £s count as stealing. I'm sure my bosses wouldn't mind though so maybe if you ask your company will be ok with it?

If these are necessary expenses and you're getting them from the cheapest sites I don't really see what the issue is.

Sister works in a company where they all either stayed in Holiday Inn Express and got 1500 pigsback points plus HIE points, or went through laterooms etc on quidco. Boss had a laugh at them comparing points, but trusted them to get a good deal (and did her own spot checks to make sure cheapest for company booked, not best cash back). All happy and staff benefitted. She left, new boss introduced new central booking policy, all perks cancelled. Staff pick hotel & PA books - all now spend around £15 - 20 a night more, right up to budget but it's in line with company policy  .
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort

  • i do it all the time with no issues at all

As long as you only use the companies you use anyway then it would be stupid not to do it

The same people saying do not do it most likely think nothing of taking home the odd pen or notepad which is theft where as what you are doing is NOT depriving or costing the company anything

go for it sister and join the club - you are making great common sense !!!

  • It's not about me thinking I am righteous and angelic by not doing this, it's about me adhering to the company's policy for I know that I could get into serious trouble over it. Losing my job would outweigh any perks that I may make through loyalty points or whatever.

What I am saying is just this - it is the policy of the company I work for that staff do not make any financial or loyalty card point gain as it is considered to be theft.

Different companies have different rules and policies for different reasons.

I stand by my comment earlier about asking boss. Just to be on the safe side. Or ceck out your policy & procedure file just in case there is a 'quidco' policy!!!!
Ever wonder about those people who spend £2 apiece on those little bottles of Evian water? Try spelling Evian backward.
  • Go for it, but ask boss first.

I am Office Manager for a small Engineering Co and i do it, i have made loads, either extra Nectar/Clubcard points or cashback from Quidco/Greasypalm.

I asked my boss if he wanted to set up accounts in his/company name and he said he does not care as long as i do my job and get the cheapest possible deal.... Enough said!

However, it all depends on the relationship you have with your boss and if you work for a big corporation or a small co like me...

    Hope you make loads.

  • I'd also add, are you public sector? They have much stronger rules on this because they have to be 'whiter than white'. Most normal companies won't mind if you ask first, but might suspect something dodgy if you don't and they find out later...

Hmm, never thought about this before. BF uses a van all day driving around and when he runs out of petrol, he is given £50 to fill up. If he didn't use his Nectar card or Tesco Clubcard, I would see as a waste. And he's told all the other van drivers to do the same and they've all joined up with the schemes (isn't he good, bless him). Obv, the Quidco thing could be considered a bit different though.

I'd ask the boss, and see what they say. You never know, you might end up getting a referral for it if they sign up themselves!
This year I'm getting organised once and for all, and going to buy a house with my wonderful other half. And that' s final!

    I don't see a problem with this.

We had to buy a dishwasher for our london office, my boss ordered it using her tesco credit card to get the points and we went through my account with rpoints, so I got cashback and we got free delivery doing it that way.

So everyone got something back, me, my boss and the company.
    Hell yeah!!
