Pick up Millie on Sunday!- Kitten Advice please :)

So I pick up my new kitten on Sunday! Her name is Millie and she is perfect in everyway!

I haven’t had a cat since I was a child and I was wondering if anyone had any tips or a checklist I could use to make sure I have everything for her!

I have gotten insurance for her this morning, so that is covered?

What about toys! A bed- what sort etc? Treats for her? Any advice welcome!

So excited!

Personally I wouldn't bother with a bed - I've bought them in the past and my cats have used them maybe once or twice before they find somewhere else they prefer to sleep!

I also don't bother with collars on my cats, they are microchipped so they can be identified if they go missing, and collars can get caught on things.

Pets at Home do a great toy called a feather chaser (or something along those lines), which all my cats have loved.

Good luck, and don't forget to come back and update this thread with pics!

Dont buy expensive cat toys. Give them a cardboard box and they'll be happy as Larry. Mine loves ping pong balls, scrunched up bit of paper/foil etc.

I bought a bed for Newton which i've seen him in once! However our new addition Mouse loves the bed.

A little cat tree is good, www.zooplus.co.uk have a good range and are not too expensive, i have this one http://www.zooplus.co.uk/shop/cats/scratching_posts/small/37574 and its fab, nice and sturdy. I also buy my food from there, if you spend over £19 you get free delivery and they are on Quidco.

On food, dont buy supermarket crap, you can get much better food for the same price (if not cheaper) on zooplus or other online shops.

    And we definitely need pictures.

gunsandbanjos your not going to believe this but i ordered one of those last night!

My parents use Zoo plus for their parrots and doggies! And so I thought I would take alook!

Is it a decent size? Also how long did it normally take to deliver?

Thanks for all the advice so far!

i have that post, it is bigger than it looks. Every once in a while it comes on sale for about £15....

for food, check out http://www.petforums.co.uk/cat-health-nutrition/112132-z-wet-food-cats.html and http://www.petforums.co.uk/cat-health-nutrition/116753-z-dry-food-cats.html

Most of the foods listed there are on Zooplus. Very comprehensive.

I have both of my cats collared, even though they are indoors. one is from http://www.kittycollars.co.uk/ and the other is a present so im not sure where it is from. The kittycollar one has lasted over a year so far, and still looks really good.

For toys, check out http://www.purrsinourhearts.co.uk/shop/ . Da Bird is the best feather chaser toy, and their catcubs are amazing. I dont understand why my cats love them so much... but they double up as beds, things to hide/fight through, things to move, things to chase etc.... and, make sure you get a laser pointer.

We got our new kitten, Bella, a week ago on sunday. Her favourite things are the big chunky scratchpost from petsathome (think it was just under £20 but is very sturdy and big enough for her to lay on the top), cheese chase and those little tiny mice that she can bat around, other than that her interests are sleeping upside down on our eldests schoolbooks and stealing our other cats food, lol! Enjoy your new kitty!

lol, fair enough. Zooplus are fab, i order all my food from them. Usually takes about 5-7 days to deliver.

It is a decent size, house at bottom even big enough for my parents monster cat to fit in(they have the same one).

My two kittens (13 weeks) love nothing better than some scrumpled up paper or tinfoil. Also my curtains, towels and carpet seem good fun too:eek:.

Please, Miss, I couldn't do my homework and I've got proof why!
