Have BT Broadband with NTL?

Hi there,

I'm moving to NTL for TV/Phone and Broadband but currently use BT for my broadband service. I dont want to move from BT BB as i have never had a problem with it but have been told that because NTL works on DSL and BT with ADSL, i would not be able to keep BT BB and would defo need to go with NTL. Is this correct or would it be possible to have NTL TV and phone but keep my BT BB?

On a side note has anyone heard if BT or NTL are going to UP their broadband speeds? HEard somehting with NTL and 50meg trials?!

Cheers guys,

Scott

    Don't understand.

You say you're moving to NTL for Broadband, then say you want to keep BT Broadband ??

Have you checked what yo want to do ??

You can keep BT ADSL Broadband if you keep BT phone line.
You can get NTL Cable Broadband when you connnect to NTL.

BT & NTL supply Broadband on 2 different systems
(BT -old style telephone line & NTL -fibre optic cable).
You can't get BT Broadband through NTL cable service.

  • Sorry it was a bit confusing, in work and typing fast.

I have BT broadband at the moment and i am very happy with it. Im changing over to NTL for TV and phone but was told by NTL that i could not keep by BT broadband due to telephone line incompatibility so i agreed to go with NTL for BB too.
I then thought about it and wondered if this was true about the incompatibility issues. I would love to keep my BT but can i, thats my question!

You can only keep BT Broadband if you keep BT old style line.

Do you know a neighbour who has NTL Broadband ??
If you do, it would be good to check NTL Broadband speeds are ok at evening/weekend peak times (6-10pm) in your road/area.

I am on NTL Broadband but have a speed problem at peak times.
This may just be my area, as it was one of the first NTL cable areas, so may be oversubscribed.

Your area may be perfectly ok.
See my thread below, but don't want to scare you off NTL Broadband.

Checkout NTL Broadband performance in YOUR road, if possible.
