RPI now up to 5.2%..Glad me and my wife purchased our full amount of certificates when they came on the market. At least this is one good decision I have made with my money recently:o
Don't forget, it ain't the August 2011 RPI rate you get, it's the rate at the anniversary. Not that it wasn't a good buy, but a point worth bearing in mind.

am glad to have a few bob in something boring for a change. With these ILSC, you might die of boredom, but you won't die in poverty. :D

They give me as much excitement as I can stand :rotfl:

Just look at the RPI change in August :D

Actually, since ONS have mucked about with their website, where is the best place to find/follow RPI changes? [I was a fan of the good old RP02 table, which is no more? ]

    Thanks noh.

ONS have made a terrible mess of their website. I emailed last month to complain. They sent me this link http://www.ons.gov.uk/ons/rel/cpi/consumer-price-indices/july-2011/index.html
which led to a very nice pdf file which you had to download and open in Adobe by clicking on "detailed tables July 2011".
I have changed the link (replacing july with august) now to
    http://www.ons.gov.uk/ons/rel/cpi/consumer-price-indices/august-2011/index.html
Sadly there is no similar link here. Can anyone explain what to do to get to a similar table for August? Clicking on the xls downloads a massive 28MB file which is complete gobbledegook to me. Like oldvicar I want a simple table that I can open in my browser. So much for progress.

NOH's link is as good as it gets these days for monthly RPI and %RPI given the ONS mess each month.

Regarding the July link above, Aug equivalent link below. But still have to download Excel at first, which opens up as default to Table 16. Then in top left cell of the sheet, click on "back to contents". And the RPI data previously found in the RPO2 table is now found by clicking the link to Table 20.

Thanks noh. Much easier to use than the official ONS site, although I still miss my RP02 (and RP04) tables for a one-page look at inflation over the past umpteen years.

Just having all the years in month by month columns (as RP02 did for the CHAW series) imparted so much understanding to me, and they have lost this in their Excel tables which list figures for just 3 years all in a straight line.

I really think the ONS change is just the sort of obfuscation which would be politically inspired in anticipation of a period of very high inflation, although I rather suspect incompetence instead.

The July link then referenced another link to a detailed report. There does seem to be a report for August at the following address, although it now doesn't include the useful table (was section 4.1 in July) which was my beloved RP02

Thank you so much James. Glad to know the table I need can still be found. They have made it as difficult as possible, but at least its still there. I would never have thought of looking at table 20 (out of 50 !)
