  • If the policy is in your parents name but you are the one who drives the car the most then you are fronting............which is probably why it is being investigated which all insurers have the right to do no matter who the policy holder is, you or your parents............

Which brings me to this question...........who is the actual owner of the vehicle and why is it insured in their name when you are coming across in your posts as the main driver...............

I have actually repudiated claims because of parents taking out a policy in their name when clearly they are not the main driver of the vehicle.............

So following advice from the pundits, you are now making 2 claims ? to your own insurance and to MIB ?

I doesn't matter who the main driver is, or even if the car had insurance.

This is a non fault claim of the Third Party, who you have said has insurance.

Aviva will be recovering their costs, so really i see no reason for holding up the claim.

In relation to the fronting issue - why is it fronting just because the insurance is in her parents name?

When i was a young driver, I was a named driver on my parents car, and would actually be a regular driver of it, but my Dad was the main driver, he would drive it to work etc, and myself and my mum would tend to use it in the evenings/weekends.
I (amd mum) would feel very inconvienced when Dad's car was in the garage etc, as none of us then had the car!

I think there is an assumption here that families tend to have more than one car nowadays, but this isn't always the case.
It is very reasonable that a family of 3 or 4 could share one car and all be fairly regular drivers.

It may not be. Aviva havent decided yet either. All that is being said is that there is more than enough suspicion for them to investigate.

I have heard that some insurance companies actually repudiate the claim, when they find out that the policyholder has two cars - two policies. My guesses as to things they would check:
    Registered owner
Registered keeper (this can be different)
Whos bank account was/is used to pay the policy
Number of vehicles in the household
Number of vehicles the policyholder has access to (insured to drive)
Where vehicle is kept/parked overnight (could be different)
Which vehicle they use to commute (obviously can afford more than one vehicle. will also show which vehicle is used more often)
    Class of use advised
    All driver's occupations
    Mileage advised, mileage history
Claims (if on one vehicle and not the other) All claims must be declared/and convictions
Also any changes they should have notified the insurance company at the time
Driver at time of incident, person who reported claim, police reports if any

I wonder if they know its not the policy holder.
Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.
