Parkforce notice

My fianc!e received a letter from 'Parkforce' today for parking in a university car park 'in contravention of the terms and conditions displayed on the warning signs erected on Private Land."

It says that a parking charge remains outstanding and that £85 must be paid within 14 days to prevent further action being taken against her. After a load of waffle it says that if it proceeds to court and judgement is obtained against her it would damage her credit for 6 years.

She wasn't driving the vehicle on that day and didn't park there on that day.

Even if she had been the driver and had parked sideways in a bay for a week, the answer would be the same - ignore them, you are at the beginning of a mail scam.

If you haven't read the stickies on this sub-board yet, look first at the very top permanent sticky thread on the board which gives Parkforce's favourite scamogram letter-chain in pictures:

    http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/...play.php?f=163

And then on another top sticky thread 'Welcome, please read before posting' you also get other info about the legality of these fake parking tickets and a link to Watchdog showing you just what to do with such a bogus 'ticket'.

I challenge anyone to be worried after seeing the calm explanation of the facts by Tim Cary, the Watchdog solicitor, and our own 'Hall of Shame' top thread previewing your whole scamogram letter-chain in pictures. Tell your fiancee from me that this will come to nothing but she must NOT be tempted to contact them (any 'appeal' they mention is a LIE, a phishing attempt). I am just an ordinary law-abiding wife and mother, just someone who got a fake PCN 3 years ago and read up on the scam, and now I come back here most days to help newbies learn what we all know about these idle threats.

Once you have both seen the Watchdog clip just laugh and play snap next time a letter arrives that matches our info. Also spread the word about this escalating scam; tell your friends and family never to take a private parking charge seriously.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Spanky Deluxe, you will notice that the threatOgrams, will be filled with loads of If's Buts, and maybe's, The usual MO from ppcs means that these mean rarely, as in 99.99% will they do court, or their little earner may well unravel due to scrutiny from the beak. Unenforceable private penalties and fines, that are out of all proportion to any consequential loss suffered.
