Some people are so judgmental .. no wonder some newbies never come back here! they get blasted for merely asking for advice

As you pointed out in your post earlier, these things should be factored in when deciding to get a dog. Spaying/nuetering is definitely something that needs to be accounted for.

It was the first thing we did with all ours when they reached the correct age.

It is probably best not to blast someone for asking advice.

It was a short post and we don't know the current circumstances of the OP.

I'm sure it has happened before where somebody has obtained a new pet only to lose their job several months later, around the time when the expensive neutering procedure is due.

Or perhaps someone took in a dog from somebody else, only to find out afterwards that the pet hadn't been neutered/spayed and is now looking to do the responsible thing, but is once again wary of the costs.

Yes, neutering/spaying costs should be taken into account but life is not always smooth - things happen and sometimes people aren't prepared for those eventualities.

Glad someone is being sensible and calm about this- we all have our views about paying for our pets but at least the OP is deciding to get her dogs spayed which is the best decision going. If we can help then let's do that!

Clearly all charities are facing an uphill struggle with the financial situation as it is, and the animal charities are bursting at the seams but some of these charities were specifically set up to help poorer people in society to look after their animals. I am thinking here of The Blue Cross & PDSA.

ive got a 3year old that i need to get done now and a puppy who will need to be done a few months????????

And why do I have a terrible feeling that the puppy is the result (payment) of the older dog having been used as a stud....

OP - pls do tell me I am wrong?
  • Studs don't need spaying....they don't have the neccisary equpment-The op clearly states spaying, and I'm sure she knows the difference.
Please excuse my bad spelling and missing letters-I post here using either my iPhone or rathr rubbishy netbook, neither of whch have excellent keyboards! Sorry!

Normally help is only available if you live in a deprived/inner city area. I dont think southport would qualify but you could check it out with your council.

Here are the postcodes in the north west eligible for £30 neutering, I don't know if any are in Southport.
