4/5 nights is about perfect for Dubai. Loads of places to stay but it depends on your budget. There isn't much at the lower end of the market (Dubai likes people with spending money) but there is a huge oversupply of hotel rooms at the mid to upper end so there are always good deals to be had (especially if you book as a flight+hotel deal). £60-70 a night should get you a good 4* hotel.
Dubai is a Marmite place. You'll either love it or hate it.0 -

Dubai is phenomanal!
Lot's of places to stay that are reasonably priced, we stayed at the Golden Sands hotel apartments recently for about £35 per night which was a tremendous bargain!
Got a full kitchenette lovely big room and within a reasonable distance of everywhere.
We noted taxi's are dirt cheap, food from supermarkets are cheap (Carrefour in mall of the emirates) or spinneys we were told but we used the former.
Even eating out isn't ridiculously expensive, head down to Jumeirah beach for a nice view of the burj al arab and the most white sand beaches you have ever seen in your life with a beautiful coral blue ocean.
Dubai is stunning, enjoy your time and the majority of the accomadation is superb!

I would recommend staying in a hotel at the mall of the emirates or Dubai Mall, just so you are local to somewhere that has lots of facilities.0

dont go for shopping, its not the cheap place it once was.
alcohol, where available isn't cheap - a pint of Bud in the Jumeriah Beach set me back between £7-8! (I wouldnt have minded if the rugby was on, but they were showing the toon on a replay, talk about taking the mick lol)
We stayed at the Traders hotel, Shangri La chain, nice, clean, polite - but not a beach hotel, miles from it in fact.
I struggled to find things to do (around a business trip) and the souks and stuff can only remain interesting for so long - have to say thats why Dubai falls into the marmite negative for me...0 -

I was going to suggest we may as well stay at home, but..........!- France

Dubai is fab! We went for the first time at New Year and stayed at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, Sheikh Zayed Road - got a good rate by having the no change/no refund rate. Our flights were booked and we reckoned that if we didn't go it would be because of an insurable reason. So nothing lost. Great location - 5 mins walk from Tube stop - which runs v. efficiently.
What you MUST, MUST do, however is buy The Entertainer book which gives LOADS of 2-4-1 vouchers for trips - Desert Safari, restaurants - buffet restaurant at The Atlantis Resort was amazing, water parks - Atlantis, Wild Wadi. I think it's now about £50 but you'll easily get that back with your first meal/trip. You order online and they'll have it delivered to your accommodation for your arrival. Have a look on Ebay for one as people sell them when they come back as there's no way you can use all the vouchers in one regular trip.0
