  • Go to this site - http://home.eunet.no/pnordahl/ntpasswd/. Follow the instructions and create a bootable floppy or CD. Boot up with the floppy/CD and you can then change the password of any user account, including administrator.

Download http://home.eunet.no/pnordahl/ntpasswd/bd050303.zip to create the floppy disk or http://home.eunet.no/pnordahl/ntpasswd/cd060213.zip to create the CD.

    Hope that helps.

    i use
    Austrumi 0.9.2
to blank admin passwords. its a small bootable linux cd. if you logon as nt_pass it prompts you all the way thru the process.
  • Dont do any of the above -sorry but those things can lead to virus and firewall problems.

If you are using Windows XP Professional, Media Centre or Tablet you can log in as "administrator" and the password as nothing or even password.

If it is you computer tell him/her to let you in or you will lock them out of the house.
  • only is the administrator password is 'blank' or 'password'

I don't see how using a linux boot disk can cause virus/firewall problems.
The pc boots up in linux, loads the registry security hive, changes the admin password and writes the changes back.

From the original post, it seems that someone has changed the admin password, so it will not be "blank" or "password".

    Just my 2p worth:confused:

It is possible for the linux bootdisk to write a virus to the harddrive if the person who wrote the software is less than trustworthy.

Having said that and used many of the nt password hacking tools. I have never had a problem with viruses

When some people setup the computer they include the first names of the family member + an account called admin. there is a build-in administrator with the password as blank.

So in most likely it would have been this visable admin account rather then the hidden administrator account.

What a load of twaddle. Download and burn the live-boot CD from ophcrack and it'll reveal all passwords by the time you've boiled the kettle.
