If this is true this is a very serious matter indeed and certainly one for trading standards.
I would recommend that those hard done by contact the trading standards department as a matter of urgency.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -
Same here, in May I did the comparison sites to see what was the best company for this year and RAC came in £50 cheaper than everyone else, paid and got a reciept for a much higher amount, checked bank statment and they had fleeced me for £95 pound which they now have come up with loads of reasons why it happened, the latest one being that they break the law by charging me more than everyone else due to me being a wheelchair user!
My solicitor has written to them askeing for my money back but they have not replied, they have shot themselves in the foot be admitting they charged me more solely down to disability so I should get my money back, another thing is they doubled the premium 10 days after I took out the policy as I hadnt forwarded my proof of no claims!
I have never even recieved my proof of no claims as quickly as that, never mind the new company recieving it and doing the admin.
Keep away from RAC no matter how cheap they claim to be because they are conmen.0 -
It looks like I had a narrow escape. I was all ready to buy yesterday. As I mentioned earlier, I was hoping to collect £80 cashback on the premium. I didn't go ahead with it because I checked the feedback on the cashback site from other RAC customers and it seems that most of them didn't get paid the cashback and they were not very happy about it. I didn't see any complaints about hiked premiums though.0

Just a quick update. They took the £291 off, fair enough, so I phoned them to ask when I will get the money credited back to my card since I had cancelled the policy? I was informed that they had sent out the insurance documents so they will not give me the money back until I send the documents back to them! Thanks RAC.0
