I want a cheap, decent blackberry

Just wondering if anyone has any recomendations about getting a decent blackberry at around the £20 per month level.

At the moment I have a Nokia qwerty phone and the email is unreliable and it doesn't have gps. Would like to get those two features but have heard some of the 8XXX blackberries are a bit ropey?

Anyone help?

Who do you currently have your contract with?
If you can hold on until it runs out, most companies will give you any phone for free!

I got the new xperia arc from o2 for free and only pay £21 month for unlimited as I told them, thats what I want or im gone as 3 had made me that very same offer and o2 said ok as they didnt want me to go lol

Apart from that, if your after a new contract, I use mobiles.co.uk/ as they get all the best offers from o2, orange, vodafone and so on. But as I said above, you might be able to get a better deal from your current provider if you call them direct like I did (and I also got cash back from them as I said thats what the site offered me before I called lol)

  • I am out of contract with Virgin so in theory I am sitting pretty but they are limited in what they can do for me.

I think I will have to move to get the deal I want.

I am also open to the idea of another qwerty phone if it has good reliable "push" email.

Talkmobile (Carphone Warehouse own brand) do a Blackberry Curve 9300 on 24 months (100 mins 500 texts, 1GB data) for £15 per month or the Bold 9780 (300 mins, 1000 texts and 1GB data) for £25 per month. Its carried on the Vodafone network so pretty decent coverage. With Blackberry compressing data you'd be going some to use that data allowance but the calls on the lower tariff might be a bit low.

  • Well I love o2 and will not change from them, so I would recommend having a look at what they can offer - check their website first and the one I linked to above, and then give em a call to see what they can do to make the package better that you want!

Tell them you will need a couple of days to think about it and you would like o2 to call you on x day at x time (they are good at keeping that date and time!), then go off and see what other companies can offer that are better then that of o2, make a note of the deals and prices.

When o2 call you back, say you love their network and would like to be with them but you have found some better offers with xyz, give them the details and see if they will match it or even top it, and there you go, you get the best deal with the provider you want :)

I do this each time my contract runs out and get a brand new top of the range phone for free, a top package, some cash back and still only pay around £20 a month :p

Give it a shot, and make sure your nice to them but make the point that A. you want to be with their network, but B. your not happy with settling for a smaller or pricier package then you can get with other providers. Keep in mind that they will tell you that xyz is rubbish, they have half the network coverage, they have limits and so on, but its all bull as each and every provider I have played this game with have all said the same sales gibberish to try and make you think your with the best provider and its worth paying more for less!

I dont think thats much of a good deal tbh, I pay just £21 and get unlimited text, 1000 mins and unlimited data with o2 (never used it all lol)!

Check out these mobiles.co.uk/blackberry-phones.html if you really want a Blackberry, but you might be better off getting a different phone, such as a smart phone! mobiles.co.uk/smartphones.html

Which Blackberry is it you have? They seem to be fairly average until you get up to the 9780 level
