questions/advice re log burner, back boiler, thermal store, solar thermal

Hi,

My husband and I are looking at getting a log burner with back boiler, thermal store and solar panels for our CH system. We have a 3 bed, 2 reception room house, double glazed, cavity wall, and loft is well insulated. It’s a 1930’s/1940’s style workers cottage. Does anybody have a similar system and could they offer any advice? We have a few questions and would appreciate it if somebody could respond with some honest answers.
1. What do you do when you go away in winter?
2. Can the thermal store provide enough heat to heat the house in winter to around 15 degrees celsius to stop pipes freezing over winter if we went away for 3-4 days?
3. if you go out for the working day(8-6ish), how warm is the house when you return on a winters day?
Thank you in advance, much appreciated.
