To be fair it appears you are short of a few brain cells......... His analogy of how gas and electricity bills is correct and you obviously have no concept of that!
I am not going to argue with you or bring myself to your level!
You ask someone for advice and when you get some you seem to think it is rubbish!0 -

When I first tried switching using simply switch (October 2005) I got an e-mail confirming these pricesThis confirms in writing that you have agreed to enter into a Supply Contract today with British Gas for supply of Electricity at 9.73 pence per kWh unit for the first 900 kWh units per annum and 6.14 pence per kWh unit for all units thereafter, Gas at 2.949 pence per kWh unit for the first 4572 kWh units per annum and 2.055 pence per kWh unit for all units thereafter and a combined Standing Charge of £0.00 per annum. These prices are before discounts, if applicable, an
d include VAT at 5%.
Tried questioning BG and they said that there prices were correct and would not comment on the prices quoted by simplyswitch.
On questioning SimplySwitch they CLAIMED that they could negotiate special prices and that their prices were correct.
Getting back to BG they held firm on their prices so I cancelled.
Thus the main advice I can give is use the comparison sites as a starting point but always double check the unit prices with the actual supplier BEFORE agreeing to switch.0 -

When I got the details from BS the unit prices were a LOT higher.

Actually, I'm not sure...
The same happened to me last year, and I decided to pursue the simplyswitch process. That led me to a "discounted rate" that British Gas didn't want to give me over the phone, plus £15 incentive and (I'm still waiting for this one) one month free equivalent to £26.
So... it might be true that they can negotiate special prices.Mulson wrote:To be fair also, how anyone, anywhere in the UK can still be with BG no matter what payment method they have is actually beyond belief!0 -
Just to confirm, the £15 incentive I guess would be the dual fuel discount? One month free offer on electricity currently stands at £34 (paid on the first bill after a full 12 months on supply). I would guess the 'discounted rate' would be regional discounted electricity (available on house.co.uk).0

Hi,
The £15 incentive was offered (and paid) by simplyswitch after a couple of months. It was for electricity only (therefore better than the £10 discount offered by BG).
Thanks for confirming that I should wait for the end of the 12 months to get the one-month electricity back.
There seems to be a difference between 'discounted rate' and 'regional discounted rate'. However, my current rate doesn't seem to match any of these rates anymore (my day rate is a bit higher, while night rate a bit lower...).0
