My daughters sleigh bed brand new £50 i since painted it white and it looks very expensive not sure what rrp would have been.

My wedding dress £50 rrp for that particular one was £1300-1500 It was brand new with tags. Shame the alterations cost £240! I was going to resell it but i just can't do it.

White melamine table with steel legs and 4 chairs 99p still using it 4 years later. Does not mark and you can use bleach on it fab. Great background when i need to sell stuff on ebay myself as well.

i love https://www.fatfingers.co.uk a great way to spot the bargains and also like http://www.localbargainfinder.co.uk/
  • 3 framed Victorian etchings for £15, later valued by Antiques Roadshow at £500.

It later turned out that they had a local historical connection. As a result, they're now on loan to and on display at the local museum, so I don't have to pay to insure them.

Great thread, best three bargains recently.

    Pick Up:-
Bumbo baby seat 99p (had been outbid on several where my max bid was £12 - they retail at about £40)

Baby back carrier (frame type) 99p - LOVELY seller we had a great chat about her house (same unusual design as my childhood home)

The best bargain ever (sentimental value) I bought a watercolour painting of a village in sussex that has a special family connection. Everyone just thinks its a nice picture - but its so much more than that for me and it was by a local unknown artist - my mum had it professionally framed for me as a present it looks fab.... the cost of the painting £5!

I think I would find it easier to contribute to a reverse thread - things you have sold that were worth quite a bit and sold for a song... :)

    too many comps..not enough time!

Oh I could add to that one, but not necessarily on ebay!

How about an extremely rare Whitefriars vase for £3? My gut told me it was Whitefriars but I couldn't find the exact pattern in the usual catalogues I search so I thought I had better not risk selling it as Whitefriars. Only after it went did I find the piece in another Whitefriars catalogue- it was a rare variation and worth around £40 in the trade.

I also sold an unusual Victoria match striker as a candle stick (in my defence it looked like a modern small candlestick), the dealer gave me 50p for it and then told me exactly what it was and what he thought he could sell it for- and told me to be more careful and research my stock in future.

  • Ouch soolin!

I sold two pairs of levi jeans that my husband genuinely had tried on once, for 99p. I did get glowing feedback, in fairness (too right they were worth over £100!).

I bought a pure wool Marks and Spencer coat for the princely sum of 99p due to the very poor quality photo used. I recognised it as a friend had the same coat in a different colour and it had cost circa £150.

She must have been out of pocket after fees as the postage label on the parcel was higher than she quoted.

Only worn once by me as I've put on weight since :o
