Crikey, this is all news to me! We've been subscribing for 4 years & never had a bean out of them. I'll be phoning them as soon as the kids go to bed. I want Sky plus but not at £99 so I'll see if they'll offer us a discount to keep us.
Thanks everyone!0 -
I always find that a spot of maternity leave and so having to reduce my direct debits works wonders for 6 months half price line rental. This has actually been true in my case for the past two years, but they have no way of knowing this. A friendly chat with the person on the phone about their/ their daughter's/friends/ whoevers children always does the trick.0

I'd avoid that link posted earlier in thread for half price sky.Its not actually half price you simply pay for what you get.No sky movie or sports channels,in fact no premium channels.I wouldnt pay £150 fot that pile of rubbish they list when you can get a set top box for around £20.
I'm waiting till next month to see what offers sky have on.
At moment theirs £50 cashback through quidco and £10 back online but pales into insignificance compared to expired cdwow offer.0 -
I have had half price SKY for 11 months now, and an incredible deal with AOL for ever. Unlimited Broadband and anytime phone for £14.99 a month (got a free wifi modem too). Just phone up to cancel and see what deals you get offered. The market is very competitive...NO to pasty tax We won!!!! Just shows that people power works! Don't be apathetic to your cause!0

I will give them a ring...you don't know an alternative to their 0870 number do you?
Hi There, no probs. I'm afraid my only alternative is to do when I'm at work
then its all free to me :rotfl: 0 -

Have a look on good old Fleabay for the box, a few people will do box and parts for £80 or so, which seems a bit expensive but is cheaper than sky. I just kept my eye out and picked one up for £20.
Another good bet is to call a local aerial or multimedia install company and aske them. A freind works for a surrey based company that does all the celebs etc and is where most of my stuff comes from, but trade price for a brand new box is just under £80 and they will normally let you have it for almost that. Id then ask them to install for you too. My neighbour paid a company £15 to install including twin LNB and leads. Beware though because same street different house, another lady paid a 'shark' £140 to fit a digital aerial!!! I nearly pushed him off the roof!!!!!
Remeber Sky+ is free if you are on over £30 a month package. You dont have to pay £30 but in Sky's eyes you are

I dont know if this is directed at me, but Sky themselves have just offered me 9 months half price then 3 months full price. This is to beat the Freesat offer. Have taken up and they are installing at my mums on Monday. This includes all the free equipment etc (not sky+, she wont want that anyway). So she is having everything, all movies, sport entertainment etc etc etc literally every chanel apart from the pay films for £22 a month for 9 months then 44 for 3. In total ill pay £330 as opposed to £528, which going by my maths is a £198 saving. Hey im happy.0 -
think at some point we've canceled our sky and got it through someone else (no idea why)
would this affect us if we try for a retention deal? we've had sky for a good 10y at leastYes Your Dukeiness

well my sky is now off but still got a lot of the free to air channels, however e4 & more 4 are not working.
What is working is the sky + functionallity though

I thought you had to pay an extra £10/month or a premium package for sky+. I'm paying £0
