Broken phone

I broke my OSF earlier, It fell out of my bag and the screen has cracked:(
Now I don't know where I stand on replacements cos I am on contract with a Nokia, but bought the OSF on PAYG in April cos I wanted a smartphone. So I put my contract sim into the OSF and gave my mum my old Nokia with the sim I got with the OSF.

Anyway, would I be able to get it replaced? I really don't want to go into another contract again as I have been made redundant and don't think I can afford it but I can't put up with a broken phone!

The handset would be classed as being damaged, do you have insurance?

Buy the OSF on PAYG and use the sim you have with the £10 PAYG sim as a spare.

eRM why would I do that when that is what I have already done?

Perhaps it's because it's your only feasible option. Your network won't replace it so what outcome would you prefer?
Have I helped? Feel free to click the 'Thanks' button. I like to feel useful (and smug). ;)

The network won't replace the phone, you damaged it, I wouldn't expect a replacement TV if I dropped mine down the stairs, either pay to get it repaired or buy another one
  • I hate to say that I think the only way is to get the screen replaced, or the entire phone like the above posters have suggested.. :(
Unlike iPhones et-al, I'm given to understand that OSF screens are fairly simple to replace if you can get the spares.

Ps: I broke the screen on my first OSF, it really didn't take much at all, far less stress than a drop of 2, 3 feet would produce - I ended up replacing mine & now I have a 2-tone black & white one.. :o

One of these days I'll get round to buying a new screen & fitting it, but to be brutally honest I'm waiting for someone I know to do it first to be my guinea pig..

    Well if you write:-
"Anyway, would I be able to get it replaced? I really don't want to go into another contract again as I have been made redundant and don't think I can afford it but I can't put up with a broken phone!"

do you think the tooth fairy is going to make it better for you if you leave it under the pillow?

So your solution is to get another one if you need its features.

My local repairer charges £25 to replace a screen - plus whatever the cost is for the screen itself (check eBay for current prices). THis way you save having to pay the full price for a replacement.

Actually, all the posters gave helpful answers if you read them again. Replacing the screen seems to be the most cost-effective, but I think all posters tried to help you.
