Roaming charges Some Qs before i go

Hi all,
Next week im of on a cruise.. i will have my iphone 4.
Now i know i need to turn roaming off....
But if it find a free wifi anywhere can i use it with out being charge???
Also anything else i should make sure i turn off.....

    If you turn the roaming off it will stop being a phone. Is this what you really want or is it the data roaming only that you want to switch off? BTW, incoming texts are free abroad.

  • Thanks for ur quick reply... just dont want a hugh bill my data roaming never been turn on so it still off just check... would like to have phone for incoming calls.... also do i need to turn 3g off???

    I am no expert, but I think data connection is available via both 2g and 3g. It's just slower on 2g.

    Remember you are charged for incoming calls when roaming.

    As an aside, If its a cruise ship, they may have their own on-board network. Some of these will charge for use of the network or may be 'outposts' of other countries networks in the expensive zone. So check before travelling. Many people turn their handsets off on-board.
