Every car boot I have ever been to, bar one, charges buyers. The one I use as a seller charges buyers 50p per person.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Hi, in our area they charge 25p per adult to enter the car boot, all of it is going to help 8 students from our area represent england in the world tae kwon doe championship in spain.
People even refuse to pay for a charity!!!! Pitch fees are £5 reguardless if you have a car or van. They are quite busy. I know if anyone tried to charge £3 eaach to get in it would be empty of buyers!!!BSC member 137

Well you should all come to 'sunny' West Wales next summer then, none of our boot fairs charge admission (at the moment), sellers are generally charged £5 for a car £10 for a van and sometimes £7 for a car with trailer. At the height of the summer season there is a boot fair every day of the week within a fairly short journey should you wish to spend all the time selling.0

Our local horticultural fair charges £7. I usually try and get a job as a steward there to save that. I guess as it's a fair and not a market you can charge for entrance, but it's all getting a bit ridiculous. I suppose it's expensive to run, and there is a lot going on there, but I wonder how much more people will be prepared to pay.
Mind you we had 10,000 people through the gates this year, so they must be prepared in some way to pay that price."Well, it's election year, Bill, we'd rather people didn't exercise common sense..." - Jed Bartlet, The West Wing, season 4

We have to pay to get into our local car boots & there are plenty of them. They all seem to charge 50p per adult so I don't mind that. They are around £5 a pitch if you are selling which again seems to be a fair price. I think £3 is ridiculous! Our 1st baby is due 29th December 2007! :rudolf:
I'm hopeful that this get's me out of cooking Christmas dinner!
Baby Ruby arrived after 55 hours of labour & an emergency c section on Christmas Day at 14.41 weighing 6lb 6oz...And yes I did get out of cooking Christmas dinner!!:rotfl:0 -
I go to a couple - Ascot and Taplow, but I would turn around and leave if I was asked for £3.
The concept of charging for parking is getting silly; theme parks have started it too as a stealth price increase.0 -

It is on two big fields so I suppose the person who owns the land is charging for using it so they charge on the parking to make the money, it is a bit much.
I've also been to the Taplow one that is run by the same people and I'm sure it was only £1 after 10am but not sure as haven't been since last year.
Its still the same, i was queueing (in the car) to get into taplow, we were planning on getting there after the entry fee had changed, they tried charging us £3 per person to get in at 9.55am, and i replied politely that as it was a single track road i would sit and wait until 10am (blocking everyone else from getting in) so that i only had to pay £1 per person. They swiftly charged me £3 (there were 3 of us) and i carried on, stupid thing is by the time we had parked and walked to the boot sale, its was near 10 past 10 anyway!0 -
thanks for the info, i had been thinking of going to denham one of these days, but £3 entry?? forgettabout it.0
