One round this way charged £3 for car parking, but they placed out police no parking cones anywhere you could park free.
Now knowing you need a temporary road traffic regulation to suspend parking I mentioned this to a rather awkward local PCSO we call "Double Dragon" Good point she says and has a closer look at the writing on the cone, they are not even from this force area she says, 2 police vans arrive and they confiscate the "recovered" police property, Idiot in charge of the event starts shouting up about his cones and gets nicked for handling stolen goods RESULT !

That sounds like a brilliant result.

I personally don't think you should be ranting over £3!!!

It upsets me to know that there are people in this forum that claim they are being extorted over for the sake of £3

Near me (Chester) there are two HUGE car boot sales. One of them charges £10 per car the smaller one only charges £5, hundreds of pounds changing hands! traders can make a tidy sum from their rubbish and they queue to get into the field where its being held

In one hour my and my wife made £60 after we paid our pitching fee, we were very chuffed indeed.

Just proves how tight people are at boot sales I suppose :(

    EDIT:
Also at the smaller one buyers even have to pay £1 for the car park

Not £3 per pitch to sell, £3 per person to go INTO the car boot sale to walk around and browse and buy.

i visited one earlier this year, they charged £4 per person to enter, but each person received a raffle ticket on payment for a bottle of whisky that would be drawn at 4pm. so in effect you were buying a raffle ticket for £4, so this was away around the market legislation

Whoops mis-understood! We usually have to pay a quid for parking but not to go around and just browse!

I've never known car boot organisers to charge the buyers!
  • We go to the Denham car boot sale, it is massive, we always get there for 11am as it's only £1 person after 11am, we have 3 young kids though so are never up and ready early.

It is on two big fields so I suppose the person who owns the land is charging for using it so they charge on the parking to make the money, it is a bit much.

I've also been to the Taplow one that is run by the same people and I'm sure it was only £1 after 10am but not sure as haven't been since last year.

Nice one. That is so, so, so laser-guided karmic justice.

If you go as a family £3 a head can be a lot of money. Some people go to car boots to buy for themselves as they can't afford the shops. Not everyone goes to buy to resell.

I posted that before someone pointed out that they were charging the buyers AND the traders. They should only be charging the traders obviously.

I have never paid so I could browse a boot sale as a buyer accept for the car park.
