Am I being unreasonable/sensitive about this (regarding learning to drive)

Block booking is never a good idea to start with.
Have a couple of lessons with someone recommended, and see if you get on with them. If you don't, you can always move.
This. Get a taster or assesment lesson if you can. You need to get on with the instructor and you don't want to be stuck with someone you don't like for ages!
Once you have got someone then by all means, see if you can do a block book with test and try to pass while you don't have other distractions like course work to take up your time.

When you get into a car, nobody else is going to drive for you.
I once went out with an ex of mine when she was learning and it was the scariest thing ive ever done, a set of traffic lights changed to red and instead of stopping, she took her hands of the wheel and looked at me with those "omg help, I can't work the TV" eye's....... We ended up half way across a major junction with a stalled engine
I have to admit ..i was that person. I used to close my eyes..and i ended up on a rounderbout..not all the way on, but just front wheel on it.
However, i was driving up a mountain with sheep in the way no problem

What do you mean by "refused to allow you to take any lessons"? Get them booked, for goodness' sake! He's not in charge!******** Never be a spectator of unfairness or stupidity *******"Always be calm and polite, and have the materials to make a bomb"0

Nearly,Pedestrian User Friendly Intelligent crossings, bit long winded to explain but basically they have infra red cameras to sense traffic approaching.
all traffic lights have sensors which detect approaching traffic for congestion. Puffin crossings detect pedestrian movement waiting and whilst crossing. For example if a child presses the button and runs off the crossing cancels the demand or if an elderly person is crossing slowly it extends the green man.(or decreases if you run)0 -
Trouble is, they never seem to bloody work. I am frequently stopped at those things where the pedestrian is nowhere to be seen or has already crossed and is more likely to be home before I am while I stare at a never-ending red light :mad:For example if a child presses the button and runs off the crossing cancels the demand or if an elderly person is crossing slowly it extends the green man.(or decreases if you run)0 -
A lot of instructors will ask about your theory test as soon as you meet them so get it done, it will also help with the practical side if you are well up on the rules of the road. Realistically you will need as many lessons as your age (i.e 25 if you're 25) unless you are naturally skilled which I was not! I would also book a local instructor who knows the area well and has been doing it a long time, and someone who is fully a qualified approved driving instructor (ADI) not a PDI. If you want to pass before January you need to start twice weekly lessons now learning takes ages and waiting for an ideal test spot can take months. I think your OH is unecessarily holding you back and you will run out of time before you even get a lesson at this rate!0
