saw that quoted for the first time on a listing this week! how deluded is the seller to think that by sending me their pop, he/she is protected somehow?! i'm still a newbie on ebay, but even i know the proof of postage is my responsibility (- and thanks to info here - i need to keep that proof for 6 months +..)

Many high volume sellers do it. Doesn't seem to put many off either. Also "returns will be refunded minus postage costs" appears frequently.

I suspect that for many sellers they have never had a loss or a return so no one has ever questioned their policy.

No, quite.

However, in my case, if someone pays me to do something, I jolly well do it now, so it's a reasonable statement to make to make sure a buyer knows their rights.

And businesspeople usually rely much more on pleasing their customers than a private seller can afford to - I'm surprised they are TRS, they have to keep people happy to do that.

I can foresee a whiny post on the forums "Help I lost my TRS impatient buyer can I neg them"...

6months? That long My receipt folder is going to be massive! I normally keep for about 2 months ,by that time some one would have left feedbaqck saying they have it or they dont.

You need to keep for 6 months to defend a chargeback.

Ive seen this a few times, and i thought thats the rules from ebay.

You need to keep ALL paperwork records for six years for tax purposes if you are a business.

2 months is no time at all. Yes, it's the time in which a buyer can leave you feedback, but the transaction doesn't end with feedback - it lasts longer in the eyes of Paypal and the law.

I bag mine up once a month and writes the month and year on the front and put them in the loft.

EDIT: In truth the above is what I should do. In reality I pile them all into a folder until the folder bursts open and then rush around madly trying to sort them into months, then finally give up , bung the whole lot into a huge bin bag and put the date on that I sealed the bag-
