We went to a theme park during the day, and then out for dinner & cocktail bar at night, then all had a sleepover at my sister's :) Twas lovely and with all the BOGOFs on theme parks (and 2 courses for £10 Pizza Express!) not that expensive!

My sisters also made little games to play throughout the day on the theme of "How to be a good wife" - truth or dare type things, a quiz on "how well do you know your husband-to-be" and so on which was a fab way to break up the day and break the ice :)
  • Rainbowdrops - one of the things that's worrying me is that I'll pick something too expensive! Do you think anyone was put off going to your sisters for that reason?

I don't think anyone was, but she had a small do most of the people that attended were quite wealthy anyway.

However, I specifically asked my BMs not to pick anything prohibitively expensive, and ruled out anything that required overnight accomodation etc.

For my hen night we had a girly night in :) Everyone made sure to bring some alcohol and nibbles with them, we had the xbox and kinect to play with & ordered pizzas, then most of the girls slept over :D And then some of us had bacon sandwiches when we got up, followed by lunch in the pub. It was a great night and some of the girls said it was better then big nights out they'd had because there was no pressure to get dolled up, we just all wore our pjs! Then only other thing we thought about including was an hours pole lesson at the pole dancing studio I go to :)
  • All my friends are vastly different - both from each other and from me! - so I think I might have more influence on my hen night than is traditional to try to find a balance that me and all my girls will enjoy. There's also quite a sharp difference in finances between everyone - so while someone was suggesting Nandos and clubs in my hometown, someone else was suggesting shopping in london, spa day and luxury hotel! Need to find something that'll be fun but affordable as I don't want to leave anyone out.

I'm thinking of dinner somewhere nice but not extortionate, and then something like a comedy club or even a burlesque night. maybe a drink somewhere but back to a reasonably-priced hotel for a a girly pamper/movie night.

Now I just have to subtly get these instructions over to my MoH whilst trying not to seem too bridezilla!
    Life on a shoestring!

Keep the alcohol away. People kept buying me congratulatory drinks, mixed with other congratulatory drinks. I arrived at the bar at 8pm as that was the meeting place and I was home in bed by 10pm.................

    Complete waste of a night/time/money.
  • My hen do ladies threw me a fab hen do, we started off at my parents house, as it could fit all the girls in, at midday.
I was blindfolded then dressed by my bm's, in a rather fetching 80's outfit, we then had nibbles and retro cocktails (babysham and brandy anyone!!) played games, quizzes, which different hen do ladies had organised.

Then had a fire engine limo, sight seeing ride around our local city, with photo stops along the way.
Then had an 80's dance lesson in a gym, was pretty embarrassing to walk through the gym in full 80's get up.
Then onto the local weatherspoons pub for more cocktails, drinks and crisps
Then onto a comedy club, where we had chicken & chips in a basket mmm, and danced the night away.

It was fab as had a mixture of ages, inc my mum, future MIL, aunts, cousins, SIL and friends and everyone dressed up and had a really good time, there was about 25 of us and cost about £40 each, as the dance lesson and comedy club were groupon deals.

haha- i dont think thats the people you were with problem- i think that was yours to be honest! its not about keeping away from the drink!- its about controlling what you have and put in your mouth
if i am out drinking and i go out at 8pm then i personally wouldnt be back at 10- but then i know how to handle it/control it and pace myself!

anyway- all that is beside the point and i am feeding the troll lol

theres so many different kinds of hen do-
as i said above i went to a meal and tribute night
you can also do cocktail making nights, or cupcake making days, or go to a recording studio, do a photoshoot, go clubbing, go to a spa, go to a comedy club, go for a meal, paintballing, afternoon tea, hire a screen in the cinema, do an adventure kind of thing

I had this done it is BRILLIANT fun a real giggle (it wasnt for my hen do but, if you get a chance you will love it!!!!:T
  • Hi

for my hen do we had a joint hen and stag activity day (we went laser tagging..which is a fusion of paintball and laser quest.. so paintballing without the pain and bruises!) We all had a right laugh and it was such a fun day..

then the hens and stags went their seperate ways.

The hens went back to my house where we had hired a hot tub (yes! i was suprised that you could hire them,,but they only cost about £100 for 3 days!). So after a few hours of sipping champers in the hot tub we then has a pj party and a good old fashioned sleep over! it was an amazing night, everyone loved it, and most of all it was inexpensive as all the costs were shared!
Now a married lady and loving it! Now..to clear that pesky mortgage!
  • I love the sound of all of your ideas, so different, but all great fun!

I love the sound of some daytime activities and then a chilled out evening with food, drink and friends, but my friends are insisting I do a night away, I think they just want a mini holiday!
