From reading this board a lot and popping in to all the different sections i have come to the conclusion that most people on here seem to think that everyone/everything has an ulterior motive which then ends up in to a massive argument or inappropriate judgements from others.

In no way am i intending to annoy anyone here but i am starting to wonder why everyone thinks there is hidden reasonings behind others actions, lets use this board as it was intended to...Advise each other and generally get along and to share our stories/emotions...whatever we feel necessary!

If you dont like what you read thats fine we are all entitled to opinions but it doesnt need to get b!tchy.

Im probably going to get ranted at for this post now......

Spot on OP but I can see both sides of the coin. A lot of the times people bring personal issues into play when they should just stick to the subject matter. Also if the person asking the question doesn't get people agreeing with they say they jump up and down and start stomping there feet.
It's better to regret something I did do than to regret something that I didn’t. :EasterBun
  • I agree, there is one poster who frequents these boards, who is so judgemental and nasty that it makes my blood curdle.

I would never ask for advice on this forum because of the judgemental attitudes. You only have to read the benefits forum to see how bad it is.

    Very sad indeed.

Yes this is why i never tend to post on here nor ask for advice due to the replies i have seen others get! It seems to always turn nasty. As you say it is very sad to see.

Personally I try to be fair in posting in here but at times I do believe people need a reality check to which sometimes you do need people to be blunt.

As it is I don't see too much I see as harsh but do agree there is somethings which I have seen which are just trolling/nasty when its not needed.

  • very true, I have seen at least 2 posters on here who have a go in all their replies and its uncalled for, lots of people who ask for advice are feeling a bit raw to start with. I know they can't wave a magic wand or anything and make it all better for us but "kicking someone when their down" springs to mind.
  • I feel that there is a tendency to disagree with the Op no matter what the subject or stance. It would be interesting for two people to post different sides of the same argument and see how the threads reads

It gets on my nerves tbh, it always turns into 'my posts better than yours', someone will read something wrong (l've done it too) or make a sweeping assumption then before you know it, it's a b*tchfest and totally off topic from the OP.

Boring, boring, boring .... and l don't bother reading this forum much anymore because of people jumping on each other

    Happy moneysaving all.

I completely agree. This forum is about giving advice, not criticising and making people not want to post.

Ignore the numpties and continue to post. :)

I must have either grown very thick skinned since I've started using MSE or I'm reading posts completely differently to others as I didn't think it was such a problem on the family board! Mind you I rarely venture out of this or the debt free wannabee boards! And I only read/reply to posts where I can say something.

Anyway, when posting on any forum it is worth remembering that this is not really real life. It is the internet and the way people respond to posts is not the same as they would in real life. Being hidden behind a computer screen gives some people "courage" and bravado. Also, there are some people who are not here to help. They are here to have fun, antagonise others, get a reaction etc. Best thing to do is not reply.

There is a fantastic feature on this forum which is the ignore list. Any offending posters, put them on your ignore list. It makes their posts worthless and it really does lower your blood pressure. I have about 6 posters on my ignore list. And then you find that eventually these people stop posting!

And finally, you have to be careful how you read posts. I have seen so many misunderstandings because either the poster who wrote has not been clear (some posts you have to read 2 or 3 times to make sense of them!), either the poster who has read the post has done it quickly and missed important elements, or it's just a case of a person writes something down and it comes across totally differently to another poster!

  • I have seen a few posters publicly ripped to shreds by others, its like a pack of wolves, especially when they take the time to go through previous post's to use as ammo.

I have a thread that keeps cropping up and each time it makes it back to page 1 I get hate mail because of its content.

I cant ask for advice on here now.
