Youngs basa fillets £1.25 Tesco

Good evening all. Yesterday my local Tesco's had frozen basa fillets (4 in a pack) for £1.25 instead of £5. Looked on Tesco website and it says they are half price so not sure if this is a pricing error or my store selling them off. I'm going back tomorrow to hopefully get some more for freezer.

Haha. We had it for tea and really enjoyed it. I coated it in seasoned flour and fried in a drizzle of olive oil till crispy. Was yum.

As are lemon sole and many other fish... expensive madagascan tiger prawns have some shocking feeding habits, doesn't alter the taste!

Theres a lot of rubbish on the internet about basa, pangasius or river cobbler, whatever you want to call it but it's a very good value, mildly flavoured white fish and if you cook it well, it's delicious!

If anyone has a grumble about basa it should be about the food miles, but if you're on a budget then such things are less important.

I've looked in 4 or 5 Tescos and can't even find it at full/half price

Wonder if the other thread OP is also from West Yorks - where did you find it?

FLATFISH don't have much choice in the matter - including Sole, Plaice, Halibut & Flounders.

As do things that "don't swim" - Crab, Lobster, Prawns, Scampi

and even more bottom feeders ........................

Cod, Haddock, Bass, Bream, Snapper

I found them in the Worksop store on 26th August for £1.25. 4 skinless & boneless fillets weighing 440gm (400gm nett of glaze) Still in freezer, so cannot give opinion on taste.
