Blackberry Curve 8520 on Orange
Hi,
I am coming to the end of my monthly contract and have started looking at the options
I have chosen my handset (Blackberry Curve 8520) and I will need around 400 to 500 minutes, unlimited texts and a good internet monthly allowance.
I have seen a reasonable deal from Orange
500 cross-network mins + Unlimited texts + 500MB BlackBerry Internet Browsing and Services, 24 months at 25pounds p/m
I live in London and currently with O2, network coverage is great.
Having never tried Orange before, how good or bad is the Orange coverage? I have been with 3 before and I had poor network coverage, I understand 3 and Orange share the same network? Am I likely to experience the same coverage issues on Orange as I had with 3?
What is your experience with Orange? Good or Bad?
Also, what does BlackBerry Internet Browsing and Services mean?
Thanks for your help in advance

I've been with Orange since about 2003 and every time my contract is up I negotiate a better deal. I hit a brick wall with them this time 'round though they didn't want to know, which is a shame since I've always been happy with the service.
Their plans at the moment though don't seem to come anywhere close to what Three or T Mobile are offering, and they seem unwilling to try and match them. When I told them Three offered me 1GB of data for £20 a month Orange came back and offered 250MB, a quarter of the amount for the same price!?
I think we can safely say that myself and Orange will be parting company after seven years this time 'round.
(Also, Three and Orange don't share a network, but T Mobile and Orange do!)0 -
I'd hold off pulling the trigger for a couple of weeks - there is a new Blackberry Curve coming out, so you might be able to pick up a cheap deal as the networks try and clear their stock of existing models.
Blackberry internet service is what makes the BB email work. All your email data is routed via this service and doesn't eat into your other data allowance, unlike on other phones.0 -
My thoughts ..... dont go with either Orange or the Blackberry. I have had that phone on contract for just over a year with 10 months remaining and cant wait to get rid of the blackberry. I find it awful .... internet coverage is terrible and signal on orange is not great my husband has an I Phone on O2 and its much better, sorry but that just my opinion.DEBT FREE and not looking backTouring Caravan owner - my home from home

If you do go with Orange, Topcashback pay £151.50 whereas Quidco only £80.0

Thank you for the replies.
Didn't know this, this might make the existing models slightly cheaper.RightyTightyLeftyLoosey wrote: »I'd hold off pulling the trigger for a couple of weeks - there is a new Blackberry Curve coming out
All email data is free? Hotmail? Gmail? How about web browsing i.e. facebook?RightyTightyLeftyLoosey wrote: »Blackberry internet service is what makes the BB email work. All your email data is routed via this service and doesn't eat into your other data allowance, unlike on other phones.
I was with Three 4 years ago but I had bad network coverage hence why I changed to O2. Have Three changed their ways in regards to network coverage? And Internet coverage?Their plans at the moment though don't seem to come anywhere close to what Three or T Mobile are offering, and they seem unwilling to try and match them.

I have a blackberry provided by work - internet is o.k. but main benefit for me is the emails and I love the phone!0

Blackberry 8520 is £119.95 on PAYG. £25 x 24months = £600. Bad, bad idea. If that's the handset you want, you'd be better off buying it and doing a Sim only contact.Have I helped? Feel free to click the 'Thanks' button. I like to feel useful (and smug).

Have you asked for your PAC yet? For that sort of price you're approaching Bold territory. As the previous post points out it's a poor deal.0

yes I got the Curve on Vodafone for my daughter for £12.40 p/m x 24 months - 200 mins, 5000 texts 250 mg, BIS - only did a contract as this works out cheaper than payg (cheapest I saw was 15 p/m) and buying the phone for £119.0

The Blackberry Curve 8520 is currently part of the £100 free credit offer on Orange PAYG when you buy it for £129.99
(the free credit is subject to topping up £10 per month for 10 months)
With £10 a month on Orange PAYG you can get 400 texts, 100 minutes and Blackberry Internet Service (using the minute and blackberry extras).
Just another option to throw into the pot.0
