HTC Wildfire S on Three £20 a month

Hi everyone, I'd just like some advice on the deal I've spotted with Three.

HTC WILDFIRE S
500 MINS
5000 TEXTS
1GB DATA

£20 X 24 MONTHS = £480 TOTAL

This seems like a really good deal to me, I know the Wildfire S isn't brand new any more but it seems like it'll do the job well. Coming to the end of my contract with Orange and they've told me they can't come close to matching it so I asked for my PAC code and gave them 30 days notice to cancel.

The only thing I'm slightly dubious about is the signal here in South Wales, the man in the Orange shop said I wouldn't get a Three signal round here but I took that as sour grapes.

What do you think?:)

Rubbish deal - phone is not worth that much even with all the mins/texts etc.
Three are just way too expensive to bother with - unless if you can't get any other network and must use them.

Oh Noob you should spend a bit more time on here and you will come across better deals.

Last week if you followed a link through quidco the Wildfire S was available from T-Mobile , 600 mins, 500 texts , unlimited data and £40 cashback for £10/month.

The deal was originally on the Samsung Galaxy Ace but they ran out so offered the Wildfire S or the Sony Xperia Mini Pro.

    Thanks for replying!:)

As a matter of fact I'm on the T mobile website now looking at the same phone! For just over £20 a month 600mins, an 'unlimited text booster' and what appears to be 'no fair use policy' on data whatever that means.

This is it if anyone minds taking a look the data policy has me a bit stumped. It says if you sign up to a 24month plan before 30Sep the good news is there is no fair use policy on data.

    It says this:
Join us instore, online or over the phone on a 24 month pay monthly plan costing at least £25 a month and you'll get unlimited internet on your phone included in your plan at no extra cost. This price assumes that you pay by direct debit and have online billing. You'll have to promise to stay with us for 24 months and pass our standard credit check.
Truly unlimited means use as many MB/GB as you like, but you can't use your phone as a modem (tethering), for peer to peer file sharing or for making internet phone calls.
If you choose a BlackBerry, you'll need to choose a plan costing at least £25 a month and then add your BlackBerry bundle on to that at an extra £5.10 a month.
You'll need internet coverage, check it at t-mobile.co.uk/streetcheck. Remember that you can only use internet on your phone in the UK and you can't use your phone as a modem (tethering) or use internet on your phone for peer to peer file sharing or making internet phone calls.
Your monthly payment is for your inclusive minutes and texts from the UK to the customers of UK mobile networks and numbers starting with 01, 02 & 03 at any time. This doesn't cover Jersey, Guernsey and the Isle of Man. You will lose your unlimited data when you renew or upgrade and you may lose it if you move plan.
You'll also get a flexible booster included as part of your plan. You can choose one flexible booster at a time from our current range and it applies from when you make your choice. You can change it once every 30 days, counting from the last time that you changed it. To change your choice of booster, just send us a text with the code of your new choice. We'll send you a text when your new booster is ready to use. Other legal stuff applies to each booster, check it all out at.

If the tariff is under £25/month you will get 500mb for downloads and 3gb for browsing etc.

    If it's over £25/month it's truly unlimited.

So last weeks deal for £10/month included the former.

TalkMobile (who use Vodafone) do the

    - Wildfire S with 200 mins, 200 texts and 1GB data for £12-a-month. £35.35 Topcashback.
    - Desire S with 300 mins, 1000 texts and 1GB data for £18-a-month. £45.45 Topcashback.

I am surprised Orange won't give you a good SIM only deal though to keep you (you could then buy the phone of your choice).
  • I'm currently looking at T Mobile. Any plans over £25 a month receive unlimited internet (not sure what fair usage policy applies), and they also use the Orange signal so that should allay any worries about reception.

The plan I'm seriously considering is:

    • 900 minutes
    • Unlimited texts (free unlimited texts booster added)
    • Unlimited internet (because plan is over £25 a month)
    • A Motorola Atrix phone

    This for £25.54 a month.

Strikes me as a hell of a good deal.
  • Dont mean to rub it in or anything. You can compare your deal to the one I got from T-mobile a couple of weeks back

    £5 a month
    24 months contract
    300 mins
    300 txt
    500MB internet
unlimited lindline calls and a free
    HTC Wildfire S

See if you can beat that
  • You're not rubbing it in at all.

To be honest 300 texts and 300 minutes would be as good as useless to me, I simply don't get so little use out of my phone to make such a contract viable.

Also your 'deal' is obviously based upon retaining you as an existing customer, not a person coming to T Mobile for the first time.
