perhaps a daft question but did the correct supplier for your property as registered with the national data base not contact you at least to say sorry you are leaving when you registered elsewhere or to welcome you as the new occupier when you moved in?0

The correct supplier was BG and they were my first supplier and had me registered with the wrong Point of Reference number and wrong meter number.
So did you choose to move to eon and as result incorrect details used, What you will need to ask is that whichever supplier you use ensures details are correct and up to date on the national data base once they say that have done that give me a call and I will check records but it can take a few weeks for it to be sorted out.I am responsible me, myself and I alone I am not the keeper others thoughts and words.0 -

What your are saying is fine, but I wonder how many consumers know about Point of Reference Numbers?
The mprn or the meter point reference number is always asked for when using internet to swap suppliers hence the meter point reference number service 0870 608 1524 And often requested by suppliers. Not sure how long these numbers have been important for but an educated guess would be since deregulation of the supply industry.
Where the confusion lies and I am not sure of the reason either is it is called the METER point reference number which would suggest's it refers to the meter when in fact it is unique to the property to which the supply goes and the serial number is unique to the meter.
Your mprn should appear on your bills along with the serial number for the meter being billed but unfortunately where this information appears is not standard and appears to be missing in some cases - perhaps the supply company reps can post here a guide on how to find such information on their bills,.
The information on the national date base is placed there by the supplier once an account is registered with them. But again there are occasions when the information is missing or inaccurate for many reasons. Which I appreciate can cause issues with customers and lead to problems.I am responsible me, myself and I alone I am not the keeper others thoughts and words.0
