PC Screen Problem

  • thanks it looks like its F1 has a little pic of a laptop and then another screen. is is ctrl F1 or fn/f1? the monitor kind of comes to life when i plug the cable back in but doesn't display anthing then goes back to sleep.

Edit: tried ctrl/f1 which i think is right - it takes the laptop screen back to full size (it gets reduced when I first plug the cable in) - pc monitor still dead tho.

It would be the Fn /F1.

If you eliminate the PC problem and then the cable by working through them as above, you'll know it has to be the monitor.

  • The first thing I would suggest to do would be to disconnect the monitor cable from the back of the PC and then turn on the monitor. Most monitors in this scenario will give you a message along the lines of 'no input' or 'check cable'. If you get a blank white screen at this point it is very likely the monitor is faulty.

If you get a message on the screen, then you need to look at trying the monitor on another source or trying another monitor on your PC.
