This is my first post. Could anyone please give me some advice please. I moved house recently and before I did I called talktalk to cancel my previous contract with them. I spole to a man who tried to get me to sign up with talktalk for my new address. I explained that their package was too expensive and that both sky and BT were cheaper. He said he would see what he could do for me as I had been a loyal customer for 8 years. To cut a very long story short he offered me half price land line rental for 6 months, evening and weekend calls, a free wireless router and free broadband. At first he said I didn't live in a free broadband area but he went away and came back and said that I didn't live in a free broadband area but they didn't charge for broadband anymore. He said I would be charged £14.10 for the first 6 months and then £19.10 there after.
After receiving my welcome letter I realised that I wasn't getting a free router and that my monthly charge was £34.42. I called talktalk.
After calling twice for a total of almost two hours..being passed to 8 different people and having to repeat myself every time I was told that it had been a mistake and that I would have to pay the broadband choice. The reason I had phoned to cancel in the first place was that it was to expensive. I feel as if I was told that I could have free broadband just so I would enter into a contract. If I were to break the terms of their contract I would have some sort of penalty. Can talktalk just disreguard the terms of the contract that I was offered? Surely calls are recorded? I have now been waiting a month to be connected. I have the option of paying the charge, which is more than I was willing to pay in the first place or cancel and have to find another provider and wait another month or so.
After being passed through 8 people when I tried to contact them I asked to speak to a manager. I was told they were all busy and someone would call me back later that day. Three days later I'm still waiting.
Could anyone please give me some advice. I had imagined because they offered a service at a certain price and that I had agreed, entering into a contract, that they would have to honour the terms of the contract that were agreed. Obviously not ?

Is this a new contract, or a home move (transfer)? If the former then you should be able to cancel under their 'no questions asked' guarantee within the first 4 weeks. No free lunch, and no free laptop

Hi Clotted,
if the service is yet to be installed you can cancel the order as the contract is yet to be initiated. This can be completed via the Cancellations Team.
In regards to the issue of Sales compliance we can investigate this for you via the TalkTalk Members Forum, where we can look into the details of the account and the call recordings as applicable.

HI Helpfuladolescent,
Can you confirm if you have tested alternative router phone and microfilter at the test socket and if using alternative equipment the BB still drops when the phone is in use.
