Supercar insurance?
Comments

A lot of insurers would not even entertain you as a named driver on a policy for a 'Supercar' because firstly your age and secondly you have just passed your test therefore making you a higher risk................

I know if i had been riving a ferrari at 18 i wouldnt have lived to see 19.
Im pretty sure you dont have the road experience to be driving a car like that so im not surprised they wont insure you.0 -
Not sure why you are on here asking - unless your dad has said "if you can get insured you can drive the car" knowing you clearly won't!!
£4k is not going to get you supercar insurance - at 18 just passed test you are likely to have to pay something like that for a Group 1 car!
I certainly hope that you cannot get insurance for the vehicle because you are an accident waiting to happen - insurance premiums are high for inexperienced drivers on non-performance cars because of the number of accidents they have.0 -
Here is what you do:
-Buy a small cheap to insure car: 2001 Corsa 1.0-1.2 tend to be cheap
-Go look for insurance companies that provide third party cover if you drive someone elses car
Car cost £1100-£1400 insurance as main driver 18 living in a high risk postcode cost is around £3-4k
Once you done that you can drive your dads supercar but third party cover which means that if you crash and its your fault the insurance company will pay for damage to other persons car and any damage to your dads car you have to cough it up.
Thats the only cheap way of doing it.0 -
You will need to increase your budget significantly.
Certainly a former client was insuring a 19 year old on an expensive sports car (911 turbo s) and the premium from memory was about £15,000 and that was 4 years ago. I'm sure there were others but it came to light to me because whilst the system would generate the quote the debit card system was rejecting the payment (turned out someone at some point had sent a £10k limit on the debit card system).
In the good old days you'd either be getting insurance from the likes of Ferrari themselves and so no issues, being a HNW individual you'd have a relationship with a personal insurance broker and they'd be able to sort it for you or you were the director of a Ltd and so could wangle it through the company insurance some how.0
