Help with my washing machine please

Thurday evening I purchased from Lidl a bottle of V5 washing machine cleaner. I followed the instructions to the letter and left the machine running with the fluid in it while we went off to bed.
At 2am I was awoken by the smell of vomit. We couldn't track it down until morning but its from the washing machine since we used this product in it. The machine didn't smell at all before
Ive done a 90degree wash on empty, one with bio powder and one with soda in it to try and get rid of them smell but it still stinks and so does my house. I really cannot tell you how bad its smells.
Ive done one normal 40 degree wash on my children's uniforms and the smell has passed on to them.
Has anyone ever used this product and had this problem? does anyone please have any ideas as to what I can do to shift this awful smell?

Oh dear, that's awful. I'm not sure what to suggest - is the machine still working properly? I think I'd try doing a 90/95 degree wash with a load of white vinegar in it, that usually shifts things so worth a try.
I'm sorry it's not much, but I hope you get it sorted quickly! xx0 -
I'm not very good at cleaning my washing machine:o and it does get gunged up. In the past when I have run the machine on empty at 95 with vineger added the machine has been very smelly afterwards, think it is because all the gunge has been disturbed iykwim. The smell has taken awhile to go but it does eventually.

Yep - if a machine is well gunged up, any cleaning process might well just take the top (few) layer(s) off, and the ones underneath will stink. The only answer is to repeat the cleaning process until you win.
You can also try pouring a good glug of vinegar into the drum after doing a wash. A lot of the smell will be coming from the water that always sits in the bottom parts of the pipework and the pump. This because the gunky stuff leaches into it. Vinegar will keep that pong down. Cheap and cheerful malt vinegar will be fine. I read some time ago that the combination of washing gels and liquids that contain no bleaching agents and low temperature washes results in a build up of bacteria and mould in the washer.
I have personally gone back to a quality big box powder and washing on higher temperatures, not cheaper on a daily basis but I do wonder if long term it works out less.
I run a 95 cycle with no washing in every month.
Certainly I don't have any of the black gunk and the washing is brighter.0 -
Bluebag, your post just reminded me that my friend once told me that she'd been advised to do that by a washing machine repair man - run the machine once a month on it's hottest wash, empty or maybe chuck in tea towels. I'd forgotten until I read your post!0

I would suggest running it again on the hottest wash with bio powder in and throw in some dishcloths or similar to stop it foaming too much. My Bosch WM is over 13 years old and they recommend doing this every couple of months.
Also, have you checked the door seal as sometimes black gunk can build up there. Also, check the filters. Oh, and don't keep the door closed on the machine when it's empty.0 -
Forgot to say keep the door open, thanks abwsco! I also leave the dispenser drawer open a fraction.0

A friend's washine machine repair man suggested she use two dishwasher tablets - one in the drum and one in the dispenser and then run washer on hottest cycle. My message to that greedy wunch of bankers:

Forgive me if I'm wrong, but I don't think this is promoting any product!!!!! The opposite in fact!
Doh! Just realised that whatever it was has probably been deleted!Father Ted: Now concentrate this time, Dougal. These
