virgin active again......

Hi,
I aware there are some old threads on Virgin active, although slightly different from my situation. I joined at the time Esporta, It was a friends/family membership which I joined with my neighbour who was already a member. Myself and her mother joined as additionally members on her account.
I gave notice in July and the membership is due to finish end Oct. The reason being as at times, my neighbour would laspe in payments, and as a consequence I wasnt able to use the gym. This has happened again, and although my portion of the membership is uptodate, my neighbour is now two months in arrears. Esporta, are now going to enlist a debt collection agency, and say I am liable for my neighbours membership, despite mine being uptodate. It also means that although my membership ends in Oct, I will continue to be liable?
I havent got a copy of the contract i signed, although have asked for one. The manager just keeps reiterrating that the my liability is stated in the small print. Esporta have never written directly to me, only my neighbour. so I am assuming, although unsure that they dont have my home address, although not sure this makes a difference?
Any thoughts/ideas would be appreciated.

Depends entirely on how the contract was written.
Difficult to advise further without more detail.
Things to look out for are jointly and severally liable.
Although US biased, here is a good Wikipedia article that explains the concept.0 -
