I started getting fruit and veg in Aldi.
Now I do my weekly shop in there.
For a family of 5, I used to spend around £100 a week.
In Aldi, I now spend £50 a week for the same stuff, but we get more of it!
The kids (2 teens and a toddler) are well impressed too, so it's a win win situation for us.Tank fly boss walk jam nitty gritty...0 -

Went to Aldi today for first time in ages..
Main reason for going was for the veg and part baked rolls. Got bag of 8 seeded dinner rolls for 99p - had these once at friends house and tasted like fresh bread - really nice! Only problem is 8 in bag so need to figure out how to keep fresh once opened.
Also got kidney beans at 16p a tin - hoping these will match the quality of the tesco own brand at 40p a tin and not the value ones..
Wished I had got the tinned tomatoes at 30p a can as this seems a better deal than Tesco's
Feta cheese was same price as Tesco but if I had got the Greek 'style' make it would have been loads cheaper. Will try it next time as use loads of it..
It was a smallish Aldi and had no Butter beans - same as ended up paying 70p for a can later in Tesco :eek:0 -
I've been shopping in aldi for years now. I really like Italian Pinot Noir, its £3.99 a bottle.I love MSE freebies and comps. Thanks posters0

Good for branded produce but I think the value ranges of the supermarkets work out cheaper. Also reduced supermarket food can be amazing if you get a good price reducer person. Some people only reduce by 1p others by pounds!
If aldi did a value brand I'd be very happy! :P0 -
I like aldi too
whats everyones favourite bits/reccomendations for there?
i like -
strawberry cheescake puddings, cheeses, bbq ribs, peri peri chicken, fizzy pop
not so good -
fruit and veg (find it doesnt last very long),
and the fact you cant really get everything needed for a recipe, sometimes need to pop to a asda or morrisons for odd bits

My favourite item from Aldi has to be the seasoning sachets. 85p for 3 sachets. I looked at the ingredients for those Maggi So Juicy marinade mixes and they are more or less the same. There is no oven cooking instructions for these, so I added 2 chicken breasts into a roasting bag (can get them from Wilkinsons or supermarkets for about £1.19 for 10 bags) and cook them in the oven for 40 mins at 180c and are yummy.
They have pepper, hot n spicy. bbq and chinese flavours.0 -
I Love Aldi, we do 90% of our shopping there, the super six veg offers each week are great we have at least 6 types of fruit for the boys to eat every day.
favourite products from there are:-
red sweet peppers
cottage cheese
brooklea corner yogurts - so creamy
carlos pizza range
sausages
golden syrup porridge0 -
Love Aldi have shopped there for ages and save a fortune. Luckily the fruit and veg in my local is always fresher and seems to last longer than other well known supermarket brands I could mention
