I've been selling a few bits lately, and have sent up to three courteous reminders about payment. Cannot believe this seller!

As you all know it's possible to bid days before an auction ends so I NEVER assume that the buyers is 'there'. Equally I have had payment before I have had time to send an invoice!

Hope the neg included the warning that 'Buyer requires INSTANT payment at auction end time!'

How do you wrap an elephant? Brown Paper, Bubble wrap or a big box with peanuts (though maybe the elephant would eat the Peanuts):D

You'd pack it in a trunk, surely;)

  • I can't believe how unreasonable the seller was! Unless the description specifies immediate payment, under a day is easily within the time frame allowed by ebay. And hiding behind the ebay rules that protect sellers from fake buyers to resolve a minor disagreement is misusing them. He should just have kept up his end of the deal once she had paid, rather than delaying then cancelling delivery. It's a shame he wasn't more reasonable to resolve this before it got to negative feedback. Selling on ebay is like a business, which relies on your reputation for good customer service.
The only way a seller can get immediate payment is via a BIN.

There are no T&C which can go against the timeframe given by Ebay. A seller cannot open a NPB until day 4 and it takes another 4 days before they can close it, in essence a buyer can have 8 days to pay.

He is not hiding behind the rules as he is unable to cancel a transaction without the agreement of the buyer. The buyer has refused the request so the sellercwill have to pay his fees.

Buyers have 4 days to pay before a seller can take any action.

    Also whats a fake buyer?

Yes I was thinking of BIN, thanks.

A fake buyer would be a scammer or have no intention of paying. That is not the situation here so I was just saying it's ridiculous he tried to hide behind ebay rules, I understand he was not able to. I think we're probably on the same page here in disagreeing with his behaviour.

    All of the above

    Finished off with the above.
See, time consuming. No wonder the poor seller didn't want to stay up all night packing the elephant & his trunk into all that & then a jumbo trunk.

What a plonker the seller is. I wonder what his reply will be when he sees the big fat red mark.

Update is nothing interesting I'm afraid. A couple of ranty emails suggesting my friend is a liar and a thief (?) and a rant about how seller has reported them to the relevant authorities and the neg has been removed (it hasn't).

My friend, who is just sending everything to ebay, says she can almost hear his blood pressure boiling over.

Interestingly though, her neg has apparently bought another unhappy buyer out of the woodwork as late last night seller got another neg for an item bought before my friend's item. Neg basically says seller rude and abusive .
