Now that one is a useful product!
(Assuming that it is legit, of course! EPM9Pro was on Giveaway of the Day in mid-August, and it seems surprising that another website should have it two or three weeks later. Of course the EPM9 Home Edition is (always?) free from the Easeus website.)0 -
Just downloaded, many thanks!0

Sorry to introduce a note of scepticism, but how would anyone know if this "giveaway" is legitimate or not? How would they know if the downloaded executable file is safe to run on their PC?
A Whois lookup of the hosting website doesn't seem to yield much info.
Forgive me for suspicions based upon what someone (who's native tongue may not be English) writes, but when they introduce the "offer" with the sentence "Computer is growing everyday" I start to wonder.
Normally I would check with the company that makes the product in question, but by coincidence the free download is only valid over a weekend - when the company is not contactable...0 -
If you right click the file, click properties, click details, it should have Easus and Copyright © 2006-2011 CHENGDU Yiwo® Tech Development Co., Ltd.

It is a possibility, but it's a big company to take on, and someone would have spotted a fake and reported it by now I would have thought0

I've no evidence to say whether it has a malware wrapper around it or not, but the thing that sounds alarm bells for me is that it doesn't make any sense.
Although not based in an english-speaking country, EaseUS has a perfectly coherent english language website. How are their interests and company image served by having their product given away for nothing by a nobody who doesn't seem to be able to write in english?
It also seems strange to me that the Techie forum ~appears~ to be saying "Don't worry - it's just a .exe file from someone you know nothing about." What could possibly go wrong?0 -
Have amended the original post0

Thanks santer. It may be legit, but probably best to err on the side of caution.
The other thing that looked odd was the "domain by proxy" bit, which seems to completely hide all domain information, other than that it's under Godaddy. I don't recall ever seeing that before...0
