  • Gardening is always nice to do together - then its nice to sit out after and enjoy it!

We like going to summer fayres/food feasts etc just to look around and not necessarily buy.
I seldom end up where I wanted to go, but almost always end up where I need to be

Today we went blackberry picking, much cheaper than buying them in the supermarket!
  • How about going camping or you could go walking or even better if you don't have a dog, offer to walk someone elses! Building a family tree? What are his hobbies? Volunteer?

When I was young we'd take a fishing net on a bit of stick down to the local stream, with a bucket, and catch tiddlers.

Sometimes we'd take some sandwiches and sit all day beside the outdoor paddling pool (free).

Else it was playing in the garden, usually making tents by pegging sheets over the washing line.

Thanks for all the responses. There's a few good ideas there that we don't do which will struggle with as we dont live together yet or have a dog etc so gardening is out however my dad does have a dog and why i never though to steal his dog for the afternoon ill never no!! Were lucky to live in such a beautiful part of the country, slap bang in the middle of the peak district so we will never run out of places to walk.
  • Like Lotus-eater suggested Geocaching is one of our favourite pastime, fall all the family, my youngest is 3yr old try http://www.geocaching.com/guide/default.aspx for info. they are everywhere :)

    Debt-free and Proud!
I do market research online and use the Pinecone vouchers to buy lunch from Greggs. We then either take the car to the seaside and go paddling or to the countryside for a wander. We sometimes try out the walks advertised in the Scotsman newspaper. I'm very sad, collect pine cones or shells when we're out.:o

We also follow car rallys, so that involves [STRIKE]getting dragged [/STRIKE]walking up big hills in rain/sunshine for a few hours. Free attendance, take a flask and a digital camera to film clips that hubby then puts on you tube etc.:)

Geocaching, costs a little bit to set up, but once you have your kit, lots of interesting walks for free.

You beat me to it! It's great fun to do and we found a travel bug on Saturday :)

  • We're always doing free/ cheap stuff! It used to get me down but now I like the challenge!

We go on quite a lot of walks and runs (we live in the countryside so quite easy), watch old films/work through our DVD collection, try new recipes together (have to eat anyway so may as well make it fun!). We also joined the National Trust for about £40 a year after cashback and an offer which is a good way of getting out for quite a cheap amount. I can't believe in the past our main hobby was shopping ugh!

We also love going to cities on little trips. Once you're there most stuff (art galleries, musuems) are free so it's quite an ecconomical day out!
