Sim only answerphone /voicemail charging?
Sorry if this has been asked before ( I have searched - and also wasted an hour or more on the phone companies' sites!).
I am in an area where O2's coverage as been deteriorating and shows no signs of improving. A move to T-Mobile or Orange (or any company that uses their service) should work here, judging by a cheap PAYG phone test.
But I use answerphone a lot and am damned if I'm willing to pay extra for it - ie outside call plan charges.
The mobile companies make this aspect of charging as opaque as they can it seems, so can anyone please tell me which SIM-only deals include answerphone use in their monthly charges?

Thank you - and a gentle bump, in case anyone else has any hard info.
BTW, is Virgin's signal taking full advantage of the Orange/T-Mobile deal yet does anyone know?0 -
Depends on your phone and plan.
If you have a smart phone and data package, take a look at Hullomail which side-steps your mobile network's voicemail, diverts voicemail calls using your inclusive minutes (if you have them) and uses cloud storage (mp3 format) of your messages. You can then listen to these on your phone or PC.0 -
icardmobile is a no-frills PAYG service that offers FREE voicemail
Landline calls 3p/min
Mobile calls 6p/min
Text messages 5p each
Data 10p per MB
Voicemail FREE

However, as icardmobile use the Vodafone signal and not Orange/T-mobile as you asked for, you may need to check coverage. You can always apply for a free SIM card anyway from the website.
Hope this helps. :-)0 -
Only one that springs to my mind which DOES NOT is T-Mobile.David

Thanks coolesticeking - looks like it will be either Orange or (cheaper) Virgin, assuming Virgin shares T-Mobile's coverage, which is still unclear.0

At the current state of play it just uses T-Mobile Signal.. Coming soon it will use the combined Orange/T-Mobile/3 Network (Coming Soon = Don't have a clue and I don't think Virgin/Orange/T-Mobile/3 know either)
Avoid at the moment if you cannot get a T-Mobile Signal as you can't select Orange as if you were a direct T-Mobile Customer.David
