Phone Line Activation charge....! help

Moved into new property, been told my phone line needs activating and they are going to charge me £70 for this. Is this normal? Plus does anyone know if I take for example oranges broadband and phoneline will they still want to charge me an activation fee??

The standard BT charge is £130, so £70 is not bad.
But I would not opt for Orange broadband at any price-one of the worst rated providers around.
Do an exchange search on https://www.samknows.com to see what LLU providers are available.No free lunch, and no free laptop

I just used orange as an example , wow 120 quid!! so even if i take someones broadband and there phoneline they are still going to charge me an activation fee?0

Depends what offers are available at the time. Any provider will have to recover the sum charged by BT Openreach for reactivating the line.No free lunch, and no free laptop
