Do you tip?
Hopefully I'm posting this in the right place
I had to be rescued by the AA yesterday, the guy got my car sorted and I was able to get home, but I was wondering if I should have given him a tip. It's the first time I've had to call them out in 6yrs.
Is there an unwritten rule regarding tipping?

If it's a simple jumpstart no. If they go above the call of duty then yes. Sometimes I give them a bottle of wine (to aid their drink driving of course...)The man without a signature.0

Nope, it's never crossed my mind to tip them. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0 -
If someone in a service type industry looks after me and my goods properly, then i do tip.0

Nope, never. It's one of my bugbears and something that causes friends and colleages to look at me in horror.
Employers should pay a fair wage. It is not up to customers to make up any shortfall in staff wages.
I'll not even go into the morality of tax evasion.0 -
Never unless someone has been truly exceptional in their service - and if then, I always ask if they will be allowed to keep the whole tip.
I worked in a bar as a waitress in the restaurant section (a smaller part of the business) - I was NEVER EVER allowed to keep any of the tips given, and I suspect it was used to top up our wages (I certainly never saw anything from the tip jar personally, and neither did any of the staff that I was aware of). I wasn't even on minimum wage at the time (which would have been low anyway, due to age - I was 16 at the time).0 -
Why would you pay more then the bill? What a bizzare notion.0

depends on the service i get, sometimes i have sometimes not. i once did when driver gave me a further lift after a break down when my car couldnt be fixed he took me to work soo i gave him a tip.0

Nope
I often think afterwards "!!!!!!, I should have tipped!" especially in restaurants, but since I normally pay by card, I don't think to (and lots of places seem to add a "service charge" to the bill). I do tend to tip the very nice barman
at my favourite pub when we go in for a meal, but we always pay by cash there as we're still not used to them having a card machine, and he tends to remember us and really looks after us.
Original debts: £14,250
Still to pay: £250 /£950 - Lloyds TSB overdraft (although with interest and charges, I've already paid £1,675!)
VSP#150 - £68.250 -

I tipped the AA man. Dad did too, after his car got towed home (on the weekend), and for that, he kindly decided to offer to come again the next day (Monday) to tow it to the garage, which they don't have to do.
I tipped the MoT tester a tenner when my car passed the MoT. It had taken him a while to get it through the emissions test (and I'm not surprised; the emissions light was on) but he had managed it. Generally came across as a decent bloke who wouldn't fail the car unless he had to, so was happy to tip.0
