Orange internet dongle's

Around April 2010 I signed up for a new internet dongle with Orange. It is a contract dongle rather than pay as you go.
The only reason I got a dongle in the first place is because the village in Wales where I lived does not have broadband because it's too far from all the local exchanges etc and BT wont update us. So this village is still on rubbish dial up. So I got a dongle because its faster than dial up.
About 3 months after starting a new dongle contract, I got a job in Suffolk, so obviously had to move away for it. The place where I now live does have broadband access and the house I live in has a wireless router that I can use for no extra cost on top of rent.
So after moving here, I no longer needed my dongle. I phoned up Orange to tell them this but they wouldnt let me cancel my dongle contract. Its an 18 month contract. I explained to Orange that I signed up for my new dongle contract before this job opportunity even presented itself to me, before I even applied for the job, let alone had an interview.
I then said that had I known that I would no longer need it after such a short space of time after signing up, that I NEVER would have renewed my dongle.
None of this made any difference either and they still wouldnt let me cancel. Since then Ive been paying £12.77 a month for a dongle that I dont use.
I feel Im being ripped off big time. Although £12.77 a month isnt really a lot - after all these months it still mounts up and it's an expense I can do without.
It's been a while since I last phoned up orange to try to cancel my dongle, so I will phone them now to see if enough of my contract has passed to allow me to cancel it. If it has I will cancel it. BUT, I still want all my money back that they have taken for a service Im not using!!
CAN ANYONE HELP????

What you need to take on board is that a contract is a legally binding agreement that ties two parties to an agreement.
If you want the freedom of no ties, then you go PAYG.
In this world, things change and it has for you. However, as you wrote, you have moved for a job opportunity. So, hopefully, you will now be earning sufficient to pay for the legally binding agreement that you agreed to.
Time to live in the real world of responsibilities.0 -
Is this a wind up?0

National troll day today, op find out what been an adult meansDon't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0

YES, I understand what a contract is and yes I would have chosen PAYG if I'd known my circumstances were gonna change like this. But nobody is clairvoyant so I didnt. Sometimes life throws curve balls that you can't predict.
I do live in the real world of responsibility!
No, this isnt a wind up!!
Why am I being made to feel Ive asked a stupid question?
This ISNT a stupid question. I have heard of some contracts having ways to get out. So Im just trying to find out whether there could be one in this situation. If you dont ask these things you dont find out do you?0 -

That's fine and if that was what you wrote, then the replies may have been kinder. But you wrote"I feel Im being ripped off big time...................................... BUT, I still want all my money back that they have taken for a service Im not using!!"
So because of changes to YOUR circumstances that YOU instigated, Orange are ripping you off ???? That's why people are having a go at you.
Your paid up membership of the blame culture doesn't cut it here, I am afraid.0 -
Not using a service isnt a valid reason to cancel a contract, it's your decision not to use it0

Good job it isn't a £35 pm month contract.0

Speak to them and see if they'll reduce the current contract to a cheaper package.''apply within''
