I think the plain packaging is deliberate.

High value items are shipped in huge quanties all over the world and are a target for thieves. I think they try to make the boxes look as indistinct as possible. I was told this a few years ago when I questioned the packaging on an item, can't remember what it was now, and the assistant said it was deliberate. If you've bought from a reputable company then you'll be fine. I get what you're saying tho' - if you were buying them as a present doesn't look very authentic in a plain box.

I can see your point, but I doubt it: Very have a large income and could easily put even bigger boxes around the boots or use a more secure courier to ensure boots were delivered then claim any loss from the delivery company (who themselves would have their own income). Its unlikely Very would have any financial loss unless it was their own error.

No, sounds to me either like marked boxes, damaged boxes or some sort of ex-display and money saving trick done by Very in order to make more of a profit. But thats just my opinion.

Have you followed it up with them? I would! I'd be asking for some sort of partial refund- no really, the box thing would get to me that much!

no, I haven't. but actually, thinking about it after reading your posts, it wouldn't hurt to email them would it. Will compose an email today and let you know of the outcome - thank you! :)

They are for me... not sure if I am keeping them or not yet, but I am going to say that I have ordered them for a gift for my daughter. I went to a car boot a couple of months ago and seen fake uggs for sale that come in similar plain brown boxes!!

It was Home Delivery Network that brought them - and it was made clear when I ordered that a signature would be required on delivery (that's why I stayed in for the whole day on Friday! :(). So it seems pretty secure.

Also, the bags that Very use seem really thick and you can't see through them.

I have heard many bad reports for HDML but I can't complain .. probably because I am here when the deliveries turn up!!

when I order, i make sure that I choose a time when I know I will be in! x

But its still them that lose out: not the company who use them. Its their insurance, their company profits (unless Very own HDNL in a major way). Many brands and companies use HDNL so I doubt this, but yes, they do tend to screw things up in pretty obvious ways quite alot! The customer would always get a replacement/refund if its not the customers error though.

Well, this is the reply I've received:

Thanks for emailing us about the Ugg boots.

Al our merchandise is genuine all it is sometimes the boxes come in damaged due to carriage, so instead of sending our customers out a damaged box that could then damage the boots, we then re-box it in a normal brown box.

    I hope this helps.

Is this good enough for you? I know it makes sense but is it something you can accept? Its really up to you. I would imagine if I went to a high street store or somewhere else and the box was so damaged they had to replace it, I'd ask for another pair with the correct box or some form of a discount.

I am sorry if I sound OTT but £230 for a pair of boots to me is big money. I would expect to experience over the odds purely because the price was so high. I'd be furious if Very thought they could palm me off like this with an average box for a more then average price!

Again, its totally your choice and depends on what matters to you. Perfectionism and watching every penny can be double edged swords!!

No, you are right... I think I will be sending them back, but on the offchance, I have emailed them asking that if I return these boots and order some more, then I should receive some in the proper box?

Surely they aren't going to turn around and say every single Ugg box was damaged in carriage to them!

Will wait and see what reply I get!

P.S. Sorry OP for hijacking your thread!

I don't know what would be right or not in the circumstance: its just quite odd to me and feels like quite shoddy treatment of them to hand out non-Ugg boxes and not to warn people. IMO when you purchase something at full price (or even at sale price for that matter) you buy the whole package, box comes with the boots, its just what normally happens. For them to withold the correct box for whatever reason is not part of what you expected when you ordered and its an assumption on their part that your happy to go without and not have that reflected in the price.

I'd have sent them back- but not before asking if they were going to send a partial refund! Otherwise I'd just shop elsewhere. For full price you may as well go to the proper Ugg store, if your concerned about it being on credit, get a 0% spending credit card and use that insted- your likely to find the normal rate is far lower then Very's credit account anyway!

Hope you get somewhere with this.

    Thanks Jenniewb!

this is the reply I received from them:

Unfortunately, I am unable to confirm whether or not the Uggs will come in the genuine ugg box or a plain box as they are sent from the warehouse.

Please accept my apologies for the inconvenience caused.

Oh well... Looks like they'll be receiving a pair of boots back!!
