    hi rusty flange,

there is loads that you can make in bulk and freeze!

This is the kind of things i do...

    spag bol sauce
    lasagne
    pasta bake
    chilli
    curries (veg or meat)
    HM soup
mince with or without dumplings (nice if you use lamb mince and put a couple of spoonfuls of mint sauce in the gravy)
    fish pie
    beef / lamb stew

let me know if you want any recipes - none of them is difficult.

Hi thanks for your help, how do you make lasagne sauce? excuse me if I sound thick ... I am fairly handy in the kitchen but run out of ideas of different things to do! I am 25 so fairly young but desperate to start making different things for the family.

again the reheating it a problem as I am usure how to reheat all of these. Again I had thought about chilli ...

The steamer is on trying to cook rice ... can never remember the quantities have had perfect rice a couple of times but as I peered in just it looks like a sticky mess!!! this was following the destructions from the steamer manual.

I am prety sure we did 150g of rice to 200ml of water but I just can't remember and rice is something we like in this house, especially me who could just sit and eat a plate of rice!

    That's a great list of meals :T

There's another thread with similar lists (including some storecupboard lists ;) ), so I'll add this one to that.

You could also take a look at the weekly meal plans thread - inspiration from what people are eating this week :D

Where can I find this - it sounds great
    thanks in advance
  • Hi, I guess one way to do it is, to purchase your basics i.e pasta, rice , couscous, lentils or dried soup mix, noodles, tinned tomatoes, tomato puree, baked beans(for when 1 of the kids won't eat what you make;)), herbs, chilli powder, curry powder. Then I have a cupboard for baking ingred's like flour, bread flour, caster sugar, icing, vanilla essence, cinnamon, ginger. Then there stuff you tend to buy every week, milk , cheese, butter, bread, yogurts, cereal.
Then make a list of meals I use web book "How to feed your family a healthy balanced diet" (link on first page, 3rd post down Oct Grocery challenge). It has a 5 week menu plan and shopping list for each week. I have also added to my baking by goggling receipes or looking on old style. Good luck
