Housing and Council tax benefit

Can someone help me - I'm at the end of my teether.
Local council has "assessed" my claim and after numberous admin errors (their end) I have been "awarded" 50p a WEEK!!
Now bit of back ground:
Have ALWAYS paid council tax on time. Became a single parent and submitte a claim may time. Was awarded £3.49 a week - I disputed this (Lots of admin errors) and it was reassessed. They said they needed Aug wage slip (which i got last week - and sent it on) However, They still havent reassessed my claim (yet) and said it could be up to and over a month as they "dont have the staff"
Currently - Im awarded £3.49, The council believe I have been over paid £13, so they are deducting £2.99 from me a week leaving me with 50p
I've done the benefits checker calculator on their website and it says im not entitled to anyting - surely this isnt right?
I work 16 hours a week - Earn £810 before deductions (£747.40 after) Have 1 DD who goes to childminder whilst i work - £65.50 a week. I get maintaintence £196 a month and WTC&CTC £164.88. My rent's £297 and council insists i pay £112 a month tax (Couple figure was 120 a month!)
Can someone help? getting no where with admin @ council - she told me i should quit my job and go on benefits!!

I'm not sure your entitled to it or more than your getting then hun as your actually on a pretty good income when you add everything up intact your on more than my family at the minute. Best try the websites stated above tho to make sure.0

Ps you could try n get council tax re banded as it seems very expensive for your rent. Our rent was 600 pcm n tax was only 80 pm0

from totaling up how much you recieve a month i would say your not entitled, my friend gets half of what you get maybe a bit less and she has to pay £55 towards her £90 a week rent she only works 16 hours with 2 children so i suspect it is right that you arent entitled to any help

Both webistes are saying I am entitled to more than 50p a week. But they both say I should get £213 a week WTC & CTC and i dont lol
The council told me that they dont include the maintainence payments and the first £XX of my income (Not sure the figure) i know i need to pay towards rent etc - but at the min im not even getting the 25% discount for lone parent on council bill :-(0 -
would it just be easier to get a new form from your council and start a fresh?
its awful ive been messed around by hb too blaming jobcentre and having me ring here there and everywhere just for the job centre to tell me they have been given a computer system that pulls all peoples records who are claiming so they shouldnt be getting people to ring the jc when they have it all there already frustrating lol
hope you get it sorted dont know what else to suggest other than cancelling the current claim and start again

Dont forget when looking at the online sites I listed you need to allow for the actual H/B allowance in your area, say your rent is £100.00 per week and the allowance is £70.00 then you only put in £70.00 on the HB websites calculator.0

Maybe that might be the best option for you.Mimi_Arc_en_ciel wrote: »I work 16 hours a week - Earn £810 before deductions (£747.40 after) Have 1 DD who goes to childminder whilst i work - £65.50 a week. You get now (£8968+£2352+£8574) Total per year of £19,884 income and you pay out (£3406+£3564+£1120) £8090 leaving you with £11,794 per year or £226 per week.
If you didn't work you would save £65.50 per week by not having to pay the child minder. Your child tax credits would increase to the maximum amount of £3,100 per year and your housing benefit and council tax benefit would also increase to the maximum amount of £3,564 and £1120 per year. Depending on the age of your daughter will also mean you could get Income Support of £67.50 per week (£3,510). You can keep your child maintenance of £196 per month (£2,352) and your child benefit of £20.30 per week (£1,056). So you would get £10,018 per year (£193 per week) and all your rent and council tax would be paid.
Is it worth working for £33 a week?:footie:
Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S)
Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money.
